i think the following is killing Biden with working class voters

(1) inflation --- they can't afford stuff

(2) they are angry about the wars in Russia and Israel, when there is money to pay for the wars, but not to help their community

(3) immigration - the Republicans starting busing migrants to the east coast cities

(4) gas prices.   Biden could try to control it but if it goes up any higher this is bad

1) yes they can afford the stuff. The sticker shock is there but the feel is not real. Democrats are losing the misinformation war badly. Screenshot_20240524-120740.png.f11b4725a2fa456cd0f07804e0598a83.png

But they earned those wage increases and they were supposed to get more stuff with them and now they can't. Thats what makes inflation so hard. The perception that you earned your raise even when it was just to keep up with inflation you were supposed to be doing better with the raise not the same.

Any theories on the polling out of NV?  In my experience NV normally runs a couple points left of AZ.  All the polling that I've seen has Trump with a significant lead in NV, in AZ most show Trump with a lead, but a very modest one.

Any theories on that?

It's super weird. Our incumbent D senator has a massive lead but Biden is losing almost as badly. Just doesn't make sense.  I'm sure both races will be much closer in the end.  FWIW Trump lost Nevada twice and I don't think a Republican has taken Nevada since Bush, Jr.

This is the lowest stakes presidential election of my lifetime.

Both are incompetent and unpopular, and both will be lame ducks who wont get one significant piece of legislation passed.  And we are looking at probably just one SCOTUS pick in the next 4 years.

There are some differences on how they will exercise their executive authority, but the real question is which party is better positioned 4 years from now when this current cycle of stupidity exhausts itself.  And that's impossible to know.

Project 2025 makes this one of the highest-stakes Presidential elections, as far as I'm concerned. They want to effectively exert an absolutist view of Presidential powers.

Key Points

  • Abolish the FBI
  • Slash DOJ funding
  • Abolish Department of Education
  • Limit scientific funding
  • Abolish Department of Commerce
  • Criminalization of pornography
  • Elimination of abortion as health care
  • Removal of protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation
  • Elimination of affirmative action
  • Reducing climate change initiatives in favor of increased fossil fuel production (even though we've never produced more than we currently are)
  • More tax cuts for the wealthy
  • Ending the independence of the FCC
  • Ending the independence of the FTC
  • Give the Executive the full independent power to fire any federal employee for any reason, effectively treating all federal employees as political appointments.
  • Remove Medicare's ability to negotiate drug prices.

The list goes on and on.

She's one of the six leading Ds in Senate races referenced in The Morning today.

"The six Democrats are basing their campaigns around a populism that harshly criticizes both big business and China."

You’re a moron if you think most of the above is going to happen. Of course that goes without saying.
