Since UNLV will be considered home court

Recommended Posts

Does it really matter at this point? It's been over a decade since UNLV has been in the hunt for an at-large spot.

Playing on your home floor gives you a better chance at winning the conference tournament, which is the only way UNLV will make the big dance. A win counting as Q2 instead of Q1 isn't going to move you from a 13 to 14 seed or hurt UNLV in any way.

Should have it at Dollar Loan Center. Smaller venue, but probably right sized most years.

I'd say Michelob Ultra Arena. That has I think 12k and is on the strip to accommodate the visiting fans.

I only attend because it is in Las Vegas.  We are lucky to be in a conference with a team based in Vegas. Stop trying to change something that is perfect.

And as an added bonus the other teams never have to worry about UNLV winning the tourney on their "home court", lol..

They say home court advantage, not home arena advantage.

Playing in front of fans will change the in game experience for the Rebels.

THE WALL

Being in the visitor's locker room because they are never the higher seed.

What fans? We used to have fans. The T&M was filled up when BYU was there, and UNM and UNLV were consistently good. Later on came the Aztecs.

And it didn’t matter what seed they are/were, the Rebs will always be the visitors.

With all the changes they go through, different locker room, etc., it is a neutral court game where its mostly your fans in the seats.

T&M has become the Aztecs second home. Not just cause they win there, but their fans travel as well.

The main reason the MWCT is in the T&M other that the obvious is that we give the MWC a great deal on the venue. Money talks. Until UNLV become a serious contender again this whole home court deal doesn’t mean squat.

Just rotate the conference from school to school every year then everyone is happy.

1 home game every decade.

Nothing says small time more than that.  But I’d imagine most fans wouldn’t be happy with that.  For us in Wyoming, an annual Vegas trip in March is a much needed respite from the weather.  Phoenix and Tucson also being high on the list.

Vegas is the best location for the tournament. I agree this sucks for Vegas but the reality this year is that because it dropped so many odd games against teams it should have smoked at home the last thing it needs to worry about this new NCAA rule. It just needs to keep winning. Long term this should be something that is considered for their program by the conference. And the way Vegas played the other night, playing the tournament at home may be a huge thing as it looked like a team that could win it all.

Yeah sarcasm doesn’t work here. My comment related to a decade or more of people moaning about how we had a home court advantage and the conference trying to negate something nonexistent. Vegas was built for bowls and tournaments because fans have something to do when the games aren’t being played.

It is also centrally located within the Conference with frequent flights to and from every locale.

I believe the MWCCG should be in Allegiant as well. They have a vacancy on that Friday night now.

Yea I didn’t pick up on the sarcasm because I was skimming the topic.  Relocating the tournament to Denver for those years showed that Vegas is the right choice regardless as to UNLV’s home court advantage.

Agree as well.  With Laramie likely to be the host of upcoming MWCCG games under current rules, I can honestly say that I’d rather travel to Vegas rather than hold the game in War Memorial in December again.
