Lobonado

#16 Utah State AT UNM

Recommended Posts

Excited to see this game tonight but I have to think the Aggies will have some hangover from the UNLV game and the energy it took to keep the streak alive. This is another game where I really wish we had the services of Max Agponkpolo. We are desperately missing his height, long arms, and athleticism on D and in the rebounding game and the team was at another level with him in the starting lineup. He would have been the guy guarding Toppin, just like he would have been the one guarding CSU's Nique Clifford. Clifford sort of went off on us without Max and I fear Toppin may do the same.

I also have to believe the Lobo's are due in this series at some point. The Aggies have won 10 of the last 11 in the series and 4 of the last 5 at The Pit. The Aggies' average margin of victory in those 4 games at The Pit is 18.25 points with the lone loss coming by 2 points. Going back a little further, the Aggies have also won 13 of the last 17 overall.

The style that the Aggies play make it hard to run away too much but I could see this one getting out of hand if the Aggies lose touch. Brown can only cover one of Dent or House so it may come down to how well Martinez and our other guards can cover the other + Mash. I don't expect to see an Aggie victory tonight but I hope we show well.

Not completely accurate. Yes, you guys have had upper hand on us recently,  especially in the MWCT. But you guys have only won 2 of the last 3 in the Pit. Before that not that successful at all. Those two blowouts that you are referring to regarding margin of victory happened during Covid year when we played all our “home” games in Lubbock. Anyways, you guys have made some very nice coaching hires recently, but I do think the Lobos take care of business tonight and change the trend.

These are definitely not your father's Aggie teams lol. I expect a good game. Bet the over. Lobos are favored by 5 and win 87-84.

🤨

USU vs UNM All-Time

Home Record : 17-2 (0.895)
Away Record : 13-9 (0.591) - winning nearly 60% of the time as the road team is not that successful?
Neutral Record : 3-1 (0.750)

Yes, that is 33-12 all-time for the Aggies in this series.

I guess so... Most of that happened before 1980, but you guys have gotten the better of us.

USU ownage of UNM in basketball is just hard to stomach. Makes me a little sick quite frankly.

Looking forward to the game. I haven't seen you all play. But I do know this, you had a victory at UNLV, even though I think it was ref gifted. We did not, nor were we two historically bogus calls away from victory. I mean you still have to open gifts, which you did.

Cherry colored glasses see a Lobo victory.

This should be a very close game.  If the Lobos are shooting well I think they handle USU comfortably.   Lobos are not the best outside shooting team but if Mashburn can get out of his slump Lobos favored by 5.5. should cover.

13-8 since we joined the MW and 6 in a row most recently. 9-1 in favor of USU last 10. Always close and good games. I think it would be a tall order for USU to get the W but think this one will go down to the wire.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

No idea what's going to happen tonight, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's gonna be in the 70s and whoever wins is going to win by 3-7 points. Expect this one to be a lot closer than the SUDS blowout.

We have had some shitty coaches to be fair, while you guys always seem to have a good one. Except for that one loser. He's so forgettable I don't remember his name.

For all the USU dominance, the Lobo fans aren't feeling the rivalry and a desire to see you go down. Not a sellout yet. I just got the notice for cheap tickets. For SDSU they were opening up some club seats for sale.

It's not about the matchup, it's about the fact that you might get home by midnight on a weekday evening. That's going to preclude a lot of families. Can't do anything about that, Fox is filling their late night slot. It's going to happen again several times.
