That's a bit surprising, any reason he'd want to leave UAB?

Guess he spent some time in the bay. His daughters went to High School in San Jose.  Finished his NFL career with the Niners.

You got a good one. I hope he excels in Tucson.

So far everything looks great. By reactions after the meeting with the players it looks like he nailed the meeting. Learned something last night though, Brennan's wife is an Arizona graduate.

People, not a fan.

Should be pretty easy to fill that position. The school has plenty of money to spend. The cost of living and housing in the South Bay is attractive. Facilities are on par with the best in the nation. California laws, regulations and taxes almost sell the job by themselves. This should be a quick fill once they sort through all of the applicants beating down the doors.

You got the guy I'd wished we had hired.

QB and WR are staying, you're in for more growth, NOT decline.

So who would SJSU fans like as his replacement?

I wonder if Dino Babers would be interested? Rolovich? Arroyo?

Judging by our AD's comments it will be an outside hire since he mentioned head coaching experience. I really like Rolovich.

Hard-hitting, incisive commentary from a fan of a team that has never even had its own football stadium.

You should know what you are talking about before exposing your ignorance . I thought you had the internet now in Wyoming.

Hard on the last two.

Other than the Coords and AHC/RC on staff already, these are the external candidates on my wish list:

David Diaz-Infante (NFL)
John DeFilippo (UFL)
Major Applewhite (SBC)
Andy Thompson (Big Sky)
Jason Eck (Big Sky)
Aaron Best (Big Sky)
Darren Arbet (AFL)

I think Arroyo would be a good hire.

There's bad history there from his time as OC/QBC. Also, you have to wonder why he was let go from UNLV when he was doing alright.

In the coaching world it’s about who you know. Unfortunately for you guys Arroyo seems to be a candidate because he is close friends with Brennan, knows your AD etc.

My kids call him Uncle Marcus,” said Brennan, a father of three, in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon. “My mom considers him family. He’s family to us.”

In his Monday news conference, Arroyo cracked that Brennan is “on mute this week. He’s blocked.” Arroyo quickly added, “We talk every week, and every week but one we root (for) each other.”

Arroyo and Brennan got to know each other when they were coaching at a summer camp in 2004. At the time, Arroyo was Prairie View A&M’s offensive coordinator and Brennan was an assistant coach at Cal Poly.

The next year, the late Dick Tomey hired Brennan to coach wide receivers at San Jose State. When a graduate-assistant job became available with the Spartans, Brennan advocated for Tomey to hire Arroyo. Brennan brought the two men together in Tomey’s hotel room during a coaches’ convention.

Not enough money to turn on the sprinklers to keep the grass green? Yikes. SJSU is a tough job. Might be better off budget wise paying a HC less than whatever Brennan was making.

Did you read that Brennan had to personally fundraise to feed the players breakfast every day? That’s the only meal their training table provided.

He may be candidate out of courtesy. But that's it.

Arbet was a great coach for the SaberCats. He lead them to 4 championships! I went to a couple of their games at the Shark tank.

I agree. Not enough money to keep the grass green? They don't play on grass at CEFCU. MW Wire is a joke.

I threw his name is as a wildcard. I'm curious to see what his approach to gridiron football would be coming from arena football.

he was talking about the practice field.

Bru @TXBruce2727 “For the SJSU folks, do we know what BB was making as HC? What FB budget is?”

Brennan received $2.3 million at SJSU in 2023, $1.93 million in 2022 and $1.5 million in 2021.

I can’t provide an accurate number for the budget – just know it isn’t great. Its practice field’s grass was browning a couple weeks into last year’s fall training camp, a field goal post on that same field is broken and up until last year, its facilities were laughably outdated.

They’re pretty rough on SJSU. On the player transfers:

“Then again, I’m not sure if that’s wise long term. For most of these players, SJSU was their best option. Either they received offers from schools at a lower caliber which decrease their chances of getting exposure needed to reach the next level. Or they received offers from better schools that they’d ultimately ride the bench at”
