Not only a big market, but also tied somewhat to Silicon Valley where there should be some $$$ in the form of alumni

Somewhat? It's the capital. I can't speak for others, but I donate to San Jose State every year. Gotta' support the ol' alma mater if you can. 👊

My 'Somewhat" was more a nod to what role Stanford & other Bay Area universities might contribute from the big $$ tech alumni aspect -- But I do acknowledge the proximity is not in dispute !

Only 9.7 miles from SJSU to Apple's HQ

You know Apple isn't the only tech company in Silicon ValIey, there's a lot of them that have their HQ's in San Jose too. I haven't lived in San Jose for a long time, so I can afford to donate every year. The cost of housing up there is outrageous and a lot of folks are barely getting by. 

 

Also, SJSU has more alums working in the Silicon Valley tech industry than any other college or university. If they can afford to donate they should, IMHO. "If" being the key word.

Yeah, that area seeing a long term housing price spike........on a scale that other western markets haven't seen 

Vegas houses are higher, but not like the south bay............Reno is even higher than LV area 

The people moving from SoCal & NorCal have driven the Reno & LV area home prices for a few decades, cashing out of a regular house for $700,000 + & moving to NV & buying cash & putting two new cars in the garage & still sitting on a few hundred grand 

Remember in the 1990's when SoCal prices took off..........people in San Fernando Valley were selling basic tract houses that they bought in 1978 for $150,000 and had it paid off or close to paid off, selling for $500,000 & coming to LV & buying a new house for $230,000

I don't know who's on the short list, but I hope our Defensive Coordinator Derrick Odum gets the job.

This is literally my answer whenever my friends out here in Texas ( UT, OU, Texas A&M alumni) ask me why San Jose State football has such a low alumni following, donations, NIL, etc lol
