MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE SOFTBALL SCHEDULE FOR TODAY - THURSDAY MARCH 28, 2024

 

NEW MEXICO @ NEVADA – Originally scheduled for 1 game at 4 p.m. MT/ 3 p.m. PT – On the MWC Network.   Changed to a double-header today.  First game scheduled for 1 p.m. MT / noon PT - 2nd game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MT / 3:30 p.m. PT

COLORADO STATE @ SAN DIEGO STATE – 5 p.m. MT – 4 p.m. PT – On the MWC Network * (the MWC broadcast guide does not list this game but the CSU & SDSU softball schedules both list it as being on the MWC network).  Game time was changed from 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT.

SAN JOSE STATE @ BOISE STATE – 6 p.m MT – 5 p.m. PT - On the MWC Network

UTAH STATE @ U.N.L.V. - 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT – On the MWC Network

MWC Softball results from yesterday (Thursday March 28, 2024)

Nevada won both games of their double-header vs. New Mexico by scores of 5-4 and 8-2 and improved their overall record to 29-7 & 7-1 in MWC play

Colorado State and San Diego State also changed their schedule yesterday and also played a double-header.  San Diego State won the first game 3-1 and also won the 2nd game 7-6 to improve their overall record to 19-13.  Their MWC record is now 6-2.

The San Jose State @ Boise State game was suspended due to rain and will resume in the 2nd inning today at 3 p.m. MT with the regularly scheduled  game for today to begin at 6 p.m. MT.   Boise State was leading 2-0 and was at bat in the bottom of the 2nd inning with 2 outs when the game was suspended.  The game yesterday did not begin until nearly 2 hours after the original starting time of 6 p.m. last night (7:44 p.m. MT).

U.N.L.V. won 7-3 vs. Utah State and improved their overall record to 19-10 and their MWC record to 4-2.

SAN JOSE STATE @ BOISE STATE – 3 p.m. MT & 6 p.m. MT – On the MWC Network - Game 1 today is the continuation of Thursday's game that was suspended in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

LOYOLA MARYMOUNT @ FRESNO STATE – 5:30 p.m. PT – On the MWC Network -(Changed to a DH beginning at noon PT for game 1 and a very unlikely start of 2 p.m. for game 2)

With seven home runs in the first two games of the three game series with San Jose State (3 HR's in game one and 4 HR's in game 2) the Boise State softball team now has an even 50 home runs in 36 games.   Last season Boise State set a new team record with 81 home runs.   But at their current rate Boise State may just break that team record again this year.  They need 32 more home runs to break that record and they are averaging 1.39 home runs per game.   Yet they hit 7 in their last two games (3.5 home runs / game average).

MWC Softball results from yesterday (Friday March 29, 2024)

Boise State concluded the suspended game from Thursday with an 8-0 five inning win vs. San Jose State and a 12-4 five inning win in the 2nd game against San Jose State.  Boise State's overall record is now 23-13 and their MWC record is now 3-2.   San Jose State's overall record is now 11-16 and their MWC record is now 2-3.

U.N.L.V. won both games in a double-header yesterday vs. Utah State with a 9 inning slugfest in game won by a score of 14-13 and U.N.L.V. won the 2nd game 12-3 in five innings.   U.N.L.V.'s overall record is now 21-10 and their MWC record is now 6-2.  Utah State's overall record is now 19-15 and their MWC record is now 3-6.

Nevada won 10-0 in five innings vs. New Mexico.  Nevada's overall record is now 30-7 and their MWC record is 8-1.   New Mexico's overall record is now 10-30 and their MWC record is now 2-7.

Fresno State split a double-header against Loyola Marymount with a 4-7 loss in game won and a 4-3 win in game two yesterday.  Fresno State is now 21-11 overall and 2-4 in the MWC.

San Diego State won 2-0 in their game vs. Colorado State.   San Diego State is now 20-13 overall and 7-2 in the MWC.   Colorado State's overall record is now 18-15 and their MWC record is now 1-7.

OMG Bronco, I watched last week's broadcasts of the Utah State-BSU game and that was worse than pathetic.  I did send USU an email and no response yet.  My god, only two cameras, and the bug box strike-ball indicator along with the outs not working.  Total student run broadcast.  That's about as bad as it gets.  I don't know how you survived watching that series.  I only last two innings.  Anyhow, I'll fill you in, if and when I get a response.

Nice to have confirmation.  I appreciate your efforts.  

And as if trying to watch it on tv wasn't bad enough (no idea who was on what base, what inning it was, etc.) you couldn't follow the game with the Live Stats either.

Boise State did everything they could yesterday to LOSE to San Jose State and they accomplished just that - losing 4-6 in 8 innings.

Who'd a "thunk" that Colorado State would be at the bottom of the MWC softball standings at this point in the season?  I certainly didn't think that would be the case.

Last season CSU was the ONLY MWC team that beat San Diego State two out of three games.
