Results from yesterday (Friday March 22, 2024) Boise State lost both games of a double-header yesterday @ Utah State. The Broncos apparently have chosen a very strange time to go into a hitting slump (2 runs total in the last 3 games). Boise State lost 1-2 in the first game and by run rule in the 5th inning by a score of 1-9 in the second game. Bronco7454 Posted March 23, 2024 Author Share Posted March 23, 2024 I have to say that the people who are supposed to be doing the work for televising these Mtn West Conference softball games are either incompetent or they just don't care to do much of anything. By that I mean the inserted graphic on the telecast shows ONLY the team scores and the pitch count. There is NO effort to show even the outs in the inning or the INNING of the game or whether it's the top of the inning or the bottom of the inning. And worst of all they don't do ANYTHING AT ALL for the "LIVE" stats. Nada, zip, zilch, nothing at all. So clearly they either just don't give a damn or they are incompetent at Utah State. Everyone else knows how to do these things but it's apparently a foreign concept at Utah State to provide the viewers of a game the things they need to know to understand what's going on in that game or follow the progress of the game. It's frankly pathetic how they do this at Utah State (and nowhere else). Maybe they should change LIVE Stats to DEAD Stats if Utah State is doing it. Bronco if I were you, I would send an e-mail to the SID of Utah State softball and CC the head SID. Believe me, one complaint goes a long way. Thanks for the suggestion but it's not my responsibility to inform them about what is or more precisely what is not going on during the webcasting of their softball games. They SHOULD know what's going on. I tried to watch all three of the Utah State games this weekend against my alma mater (Boise State) and all three games were done in the exact same fashion. The "Live" Stats did not work at all throughout the entirety of all three games and the inserted graphic in the TV picture (bottom right of the screen) never showed the inning, the top or bottom of the inning or the outs in each inning. You're right they do know what's going on but some people are so lazy that they never correct these problems until someone from the outside calls them out on it. I've sent numerous e-mails to schools that do a lousy job on their streaming broadcasts and most of the time, it goes like this. We apologize for our shortcomings, but we are either shorthanded or have people who don't know how to put on a sports production broadcast. My favorite response was, just be happy it's on the air. I'm going to watch Utah State's next scheduled home broadcast on April 3rd, and if I see them making the same mistakes that you saw, they'll be hearing from me. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We play everybody but we have a 2 game series against SJSU on Sat & Sun, why not Fri.? We have a doubleheader against USU, midweek? It is the same with every other MWC (for the most part). As to why? GOOD QUESTION. I think it's insane the way the MWC does this. The way they (the MWC) have been doing it makes no sense at all to me. But the bottom line is they are trying to fit eight weekends of MWC softball play into seven weeks. Another (better) way to do it would be to have a double-header scheduled on a Tuesday and a single game on Wednesday (one time) vs. one of the other 8 MWC softball teams and also have two games that same week on Saturday and a game on Sunday (or 1 game on Friday & 2 games on Saturday) vs. another of the 8 MWC softball teams. Or even a three game series on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday with 2 games on Saturday & 1 game on Sunday in the same week. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
