2024 Mountain West Conference Softball thread

The 2024 Mountain West Conference softball season begins exactly 40 days from today on Feb. 8, 2024.   Here is a review of the first games for the MWC softball teams in 2024:

FEBRUARY 8, 2024

Fresno State will host South Dakota State @ 6 p.m. P.T. at Fresno State

Nevada will play a double-header vs, Missouri (Kansas City) @ 6:30 p.m. P.T.  & Nevada vs. Hawaii at 9 p.m. P.T. at Honolulu, HI

San Diego State will host Stanford University at 5 p.m. P.T. at San Diego State

 

FEBRUARY 9, 2024

Boise State vs. Northwestern @ 10:30 a.m. MT and Boise State vs. St. Thomas @ 1:15 p.m. in Tempe, AZ.

Colorado State vs. Pacific Univ. @ 3:30 p.m. M.T. and Colorado State vs. Cal State Fullerton @ 6 p.m. M.T. at Fullerton, CA.

New Mexico vs. Tennessee State @ 12:30 p.m. M.T. and New Mexico vs. McNeese State @ 5:30 p.m. M.T. at Lake Charles, LA.

Utah State vs. Portland State @ 11:30 a.m. M.T. and Utah State vs. U.C. Riverside @ 2 p.m. M.T. at Riverside, CA.

 

San Jose State and U.N.L.V. have not released their 2024 softball schedules as of Dec. 30th, 2023.

The only change for Boise State since fall ball is RS Freshman Rebecca "Becky" Wetteland is no longer on the roster for 2024.   She did not play at all last season as a True Freshman and was listed on the 2023 Boise State softball team roster throughout the 2023 season with no number assigned to her.   This fall she was listed as # 3 but now she's not listed at all.  The currently updated roster now has 27 players listed.  Last fall the number was 28.

I am going to put my "thoughts" on what I THINK may be the 2024 softball team lineups for each of the nine Mtn. West softball programs starting with the team that finished in last place last season in the regular season standings and working up to the first place team.   The regular season standings for 2023 were as follows:

Gonna be tough to follow that act up after finishing one game short of the CWS.  Aztec softball - and baseball, for that matter - should dominate the MWC annually.
