Mind Blowing Video of U2 @ The Sphere Last Night

Recommended Posts

My favorite album of all time is Achtung Baby and the best concert I ever seen was Zoo TV as a 14 year old. Just me and my friends. No parents. 6th row. Sam Boyd Stadium. Will never forget it.

Been chasing that dragon ever since. Going to at least 2 sphere shows so far. Oct 18th and December 6th. My kids are coming with me to the December and we got 15th row. Hope it blows their minds as much as zootv did mine.

Crap, I was going to school at UNLV and I was renting a house with a guy that was going to school and his wife, and she was a camera operator for the evening news at the local ABC station, and she scored me an all access press pass. Then the day before the show I somehow lost it!! I was panicking and it was terrible. I never could find it and missed everything. Even later on I never ever found it. It still frustrates me to think about.

I haven’t even looked into dates I’m going to go or getting any passes, how hard they are to get, etc. But if not too hard, I’ll see if I can score 4 for 12/6 for you. Being that many shows out it shouldn’t be too bad.

I was at that Zoo TV concert at Sam Boyd too. We are pretty close to the same age @toonkee. I'm two yrs older. It was the first concert I could drive to. What a fantastic concert it was! Very cool you are getting to see them at the Sphere.

Here is the setlist for a trip down memory lane...

My son and I flew out Saturday morning for that concert and back last night. The venue is incredible and what they did with it was mind-blowing. Our seats were in the lowest section, but the only problem is that there's an overhang from level two that blocks your ability to see everything on the screen...it's everywhere. If you're getting tickets, get rows 1-15 or so if you're buying in sections 101-110, otherwise, I'd go towards the front of level 2. We could see the band well though and they sounded great. We found two empty seats closer where we could past the overhang and it changed everything. The resolution on that screen (16K) is insane and, at times, disorienting as it made you feel like you were in an outdoor arena. In a cool way though, not in a motion ride way. I highly suggest going.

Yeah I've heard the cheap seats are the best seats for the full experience. Awesome you got to be there. An historic event.

General admission would give a good view too, but even for the short time I was on the floor, looking up at everything going on overhead, I felt like I might fall over. It's probably best to be seated....although they kept bringing people on stage, so that would be cool too.

Yes, I originally had tickets from the U2 fan club for 100 level row 26 or 36 or something and they sent us emails saying we could cancel due to the overhang and get and trade those for a presale to the presale code to get non obstructed tix for a show yet to be on sale.  So I did.   Really glad I made that choice now.

Sweet. I made a custom t-shirt for the sphere shows.  When it gets to my house I'll post a pic. You'll appreciate it being a old timer Las Vegan like me.

More "expected" than "interesting."

Guess looking back, Reno never had & doesn't (yet) have a venue tat could host a major act in concert ---- Might have thought U2 back in '84 to '88 might have been OK in Lawlor of BSU's FB stadium

Actually sometimes U2 stops by and performs in front of a Reno audience at the Reno air races.

Could basketball be played in there? Imagine having cool productions on the sphere during timeouts/halftime?

Although a court may fit in the stage area it is purpose built to be a theater. But who knows?
