Negative. Nevada’s Bookstore is 2.47 miles (straight line) to the future arena.

The UNLV bookstore is 2.69 miles away from Allegiant

I'm guessing most students don't have the financial means of Mr Mug & lack access to a private helicopter fleet to whisk them to games in straight lines

Man, if only we could hit golf balls into the Bellagio fountains. Oh, Reno...

Haha not gonna lie, I think I'm just as excited about that part of the project as I am the arena.

Sounds like Alford is too 🤣,

Quote

Nevada basketball coach Steve Alford jokes, “Not in my wildest dreams did I think I could be coaching in an arena and go over for lunch and hit golf balls. I’ve reached heaven. In a long list of coaching places, I’m in coaching heaven.”

Seriously...I'd hit golf balls into the Bellagio fountains if I could...and so would you.😉

No way, you could shank one and hit a hooker. Then her pimp is after you. NOT WORTH IT.

Now apply this terse summary of ‘23 to your ‘24 grand tour threads and we’ll both have made progress in life and freed up time to spend with our loved ones (or to catch pigs on the Truckee!). From a few weeks ago, and only that long because this retired guy has had a hell month+ of actual work descend on his ass…

Parking is a concern. I hope it’s not going to cost 10-20 bones per game to pull into the GSR on top of the season tix price. There won’t be a nearby neighborhood offering stealth parking opportunities to those willing to walk an extra step or three. Maybe Walmart will offer discount parking rates across the street.

We should have a fish porn thread. We have a robust watch thread. 24 inches of San Juan rainbow.

I vote yes to a fish porn thread.

Nice bow! I stuck a 25” Truckee brown in the net earlier this summer, biggest brown I’ve ever netted, but I was way out in the river surrounded by strong current with no convenient rocks to rest a camera on, and I wasn’t dragging that fish back to shore, so no picture. My son was 150’ downriver and videoed me netting it, but even a screen shot of the best fish angle in the net plus zoom doesn’t really do it justice. It’s just a fish story at this point.

I had a huge bow on last fall, but he rubbed me off on a rock after 5 minutes. I don’t think it was quite 24”, but it was super thick and definitely the biggest bow I’ve ever had on. Maybe I’ll find him again this fall.

I’m looking for a semi-mythic 30” Truckee brown at some point. They’re in the river, just have to put in the time slinging meat.

I’m moving back to Reno after decades away so I’ll search for the semi mythic 30 inch butterball as well.

That’s great. HMU if you ever want to toss flies at fish. My younger son and I bought a three man Flycraft a couple years ago, so drifts down the river are a regular through the winter. We talk about different drifts during the warmer months but never seem able align schedules—there just seems to be too much going for us at those times.

We will find out more today.

I think your “today” above is now yesterday.

You weren’t the only one who eluded to back-to-back announcements from Nevada BB & FB.  I did several searches of the Google Machine, yet came up empty.

Any idea what the delay is?

No clue, on the Nevada board they're mentioning that perhaps they don't want it to get overshadowed, and want to wait for the excitement from this announcement to fizzle out a bit.

Maybe next week with a bye week on our schedule is better timing. Hopefully...
