UNLV2001
First game / event for me at Allegiant Stadium --- Let me say this about that: Got to park in a brand new 4-story parking garage / building that is still under construction just to the west of the stadium - 1st floor retail / bar with 3 story parking above.......was $25 but was close walk to stadium Sat in section 117 row 24........not bad sight lines Sound system needs work - was hard to hear the PA where we sat Odd set up because the field & UNLV logo is oriented to the TV side which is opposite side from where most UNLV fans were-- so at halftime when the band played, they had their backs to the majority of UNLV fans on the east side while they faced west towards the TV Probably will be the best attendance of the season due to a good turnout by Hawaii fans, but UNLV also might have had their best attendance to date One noticeable thing in the area around us was the number of young guys that had UNLV FB Credentialed passes - Guys with UNLV FB lanyards that had their name & high school on the credential - Some physically didn't strike me as recruits, but it appears Odom & UNLV are really reaching out to the local HS programs ......so local outreach seems to be a focus UNLV did enough to win........still a lot to work on & clean up. The passing games was just adequate but it's got a lot of room for improvement - Hawaii had a lot of self inflicted wounds via their own penalties & UNLV had their share over the course of the game Still think UNLV will have trouble against the upper half of the MWC - There's still too many mistakes, penalties & lack of a real passing threat will be more exposed against better opponents............still there's a lot of potential with this UNLV team & improvement should be happening as the season progresses Odom at this point seems to have the program on the right track from every aspect compared to recent coaching staffs........from basic PR, local outreach & getting some buzz around the program.........if that continues, the talent should improve via recruiting the the transfer portal UNLV is 4-1........the second half of the schedule will bring more challenging opponents -- UNLV has a week off before going to Reno. and you can bet if UNR plays a decent game this season, the cannon game will be their one time to shine - Rebels need to be ready
UNLV2001
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV (4-1/1-0) scored at least 40 points for the third straight game for the first time in school history as the Rebels opened Mountain West play with a 44-20 victory over Hawai'i 2-4/0-1) before 25,328 fans at Allegiant Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Rebels won their third straight outing and reclaimed the famed Island Showdown Trophy, affectionately known as the Golden Pineapple, as Barry Odom became the first UNLV coach to win his first three home games since Wayne Nunnely in 1986. UNLV's ground game was merciless, racking up 307 yards compared to 46 for the visitors as six different Rebel runners finished with more than 30 yards on the ground, led by Donavyn Lester's best day with the program (98 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries). Courtney Reese came off the bench to score a pair of rushing TDs as part of his 32-yard day. Safety Johnathan Baldwin finished with nine total tackles, including two of the squad's 10 tackles-for-loss. Quarterback Jayden Maiava completed only 11 passes but two of them were for touchdowns, including a 16-yarder to running back Vincent Davis Jr. to open the scoring as the Rebels built a 20-3 halftime lead and never looked back. REBEL OF THE GAME: Senior kicker Jose Pizano was money yet again – nailing all three of his field goal attempts and adding five extra points for a total of 14. His day included making a career-long 52-yarder, which tied for the ninth-longest in school history and helped improve him to an eye-popping 11-of-12 on field-goal attempts this fall. STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV had six sacks by six different players and did not allow one on offense. That means in the last two games combined, the Rebels had 10 sacks to zero by opponents QUOTABLE: "This game was not only important to our team and to our university, but also to Las Vegas. With conference play starting, the ability to continue the momentum we have built so far in our program, the importance of every single conference game, that's so huge for where we are trying to get to. This is the first time we have scored 40 points in three straight games, that's tremendous. We had a great offensive performance. We had six sacks and didn't give up any on the other side. That's complimentary football. When we can do that and play well in all three phases together, we've got an opportunity to continue to play winning ball … I'm proud of this team for what we've done now through five weeks." -UNLV Head Coach Barry Odom REBEL NOTES: -UNLV improved to 15-27 in conference openers and has won two straight -The Rebels have won seven of their last nine home games -This marked the earliest game staged between the Rebels and Warriors since Sept. 17, 2011 -UNLV has now started 4-1 for the second consecutive season -The home team has won 13 of the last 15 games in this series -UH still leads the overall series 19-14 but UNLV improved to 11-6 vs. UH in Las Vegas, having won 9 of the last 11 in the Silver State -UNLV won the turnover battle 2-0 and now is plus-six after five games -With defender Jerrae Williams out with an injury, running back Jordan Younge-Humphrey served as one of UNLV's four team captains but then was injured himself after rushing for 44 yards on just two carries NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will enjoy its only open week of the season before traveling to Reno to take on UNR in the annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon on October 14. HawaiiMongoose
Congratulations Rebels. You outplayed us from beginning to end and certainly earned the win. It’s obvious that UNLV has leapfrogged UH as a program and we have a lot of work to do to catch up. Good luck on the rest of your season. 2

I stopped going to the games a couple years ago because it was just no fun to watch your team lose over and over. Looks like attendance is increasing with the wins. That is one crazy running game. I love it.
Rosegreen
It’s obvious that Marion is driving DC’s apeshit because when you rotate in 5-6 running backs and multiple formations, it’s really hard to know where the ball is going. Everyone has data interns and looks for tendencies but Marion keeps changing it up adding new looks. This week vs Hawai’i, Marion implemented the pre snap motion. It’s all designed to create confusion and delay the defensive players reactions. You also have to credit the OL, they are getting better as each game goes on. I have to think they got a lot of confidence from the Michigan game, considering they have some of the best DL in the country.

The Rebel Way @RebelWayOrNoWay ·9h #UNLVfb had scored 40 points or more only five times in the last five seasons. With Coach Marion as OC this season, the team has scored 40 points or more four times already. The Brennan Marion effect is real.
303Rebel
We need the Next two games to be wins, period! The next two will tell us if this team is at least able to take advantage of opportunities or just another disappointing team that ends up 5-7!
