Any island or area is particular? Most of the previous threads were specific to Maui.

Nevada Convert
One time I decided to venture west to Johnston Atoll to enjoy my sack lunch on an old runway. The radiation wasn’t too bad, nor was the Agent Orange and other chemicals because I didn’t stay too long or lick anything.

I lived in Hilo for 6 months, but there wasn't much to do there. Kona side has a lot more going on. One of the "musts" imo is if they can experience diving/snorkeling with the manta rays at night.

Literally every restaurant lol. Avoid any national chains and check out the local food. Have a list of foods to try vs. restaurants. Hawaiian BBQ, Plate Lunches, Tropical Fruit Desserts, Seafood, Poke. Can't go to Maui,, so Big Island is probably the best place to go now when you want to get away from Oahu. Plus I think the volcano is erupting again. Might be able to see some lava.
Billings
I agree on the Manta Ray at night excursion. Kanoa grill and Poke is very good but I see they have a new location. Old one was a beat up old building and great.
WAC_FAN
Here's a decent article on foods to try: https://nextishawaii.com/what-to-eat-in-hawaii-foods/ (I agree with most of these. Several of these are now available on the mainland, so I would skip the ones you can easily find elsewhere)
