Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

It’s actually smart.  My belief is that Barry Odom is trying to trick UTEP into thinking that Doug Brumfield will start over Jayden Maiava.

I would be surprised if Brumfield is the starter on Saturday.

He doesn't seem like the type to play games with the depth chart...they're both dual threats...one is just capable of making reads and completing a 15+ yd pass accurately.

Coaching staff unquestionably named Brumfield QB1 in camp....I think they're hoping he figures out his problem so they don't look stupid with having a true freshman as the better option after their concensus it was Bum.

This upcoming game might be a trap for your team, just like the Fresno State vs. EW game. If your players spend the whole week taking pictures of their recent historic win on social media and fail to bring their usual energy, then there's a chance they might lose.

Odom is striking me as a "loyal to a fault" kinda guy. Can bite you in the ass quick.

Good job Rebels.  Still can't beleive you have a Big 12 W and two SEC Ws while Nevada has  never beat a team from either conference.  College football is weird.

UNLV is 3-2 vs Oregon St from 1983 to 2009 outscoring the Beavers 141 to 120

1983 UNLV beat Oregon St in Corvallis 35-21

1990 UNLV beat OSU 45-20 in Corvallis

1991 UNLV beat OSU 23-9 In LV

UNLV started out 3-0 vs Oregon St

3 SEC wins. Arkansas, Vandy twice.

Our record against the SEC is 3-4. Losses to Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee twice.

And didn't we play them at Sam Boyd? When the power went out? And we also beat Arizona State, didn't we?

I remember under Sanford in 2008 you beat both Iowa State and Arizona State.

The MW was absolutely brutal that season, in hindsight that was probably one of the best teams UNLV has had this century. If Sanford had beat a 2-10 SDSU to end the season, UNLV would've been bowling and he likely would've had a longer coaching career.

If UNLV had the financial support and facilities it has now in 2008, Sanford would've been alot more successful. It was brutally bad back then.

Yeah, and the MW was a lot tougher. You guys played 4 ranked teams in 08, and 3 in 09.

Those 2008 and 2009 teams would've likely had 8 wins playing the schedules that Sanchez and Arroyo faced.

That is true if you look at games played while schools were in the Big 12. But if you look at overall record against the new Big 12 programs Nevada is 13-19-4, and UNLV 10-58.

But no doubt that UNLV's record against the SEC is impressive. At 3-4 they have the highest winning percentage against the SEC of anyone in the conference. And I'd imagine that's also higher than the majority of P5 programs.

Utah as well. Remember @utenation?

The night Frank the Tank went wild. That was definitely one of UNLV's greatest wins.

My profile pic is from that ASU game. Fade to Payne with the one-handed grab.

We got blown out obviously but it was real cool to watch UNLV football in 1996 on TV playing in front of 106 thousand Tennessee fans and Peyton Manning.  This was before streaming and 500 sports channels.

One game that should have kept going was the Wisconsin games. That fanbase could travel, they were cool and it was awesome to see Sam Boyd sold out and under the lights in prime time. That was peak unlv football, imo.

Unlv made a lot of money from that series. They’ve tried with Iowa State and Vanderbilt. Those fans don’t travel nearly as well. Next year it’s Army and Dixie State (Utah Tech), I don’t know how well army travels to non service games. I know they travel to Air Force.

Iowa State showed up real nicely, but yeah, they are no Wisconsin. Agree those games were fantastic.
