A free Lobo fan thread for those not moving into the 505 pay site

I feel for you guys. Does this mean we’re now going to have another MWC school with 100 page threads on next years roster?

As a Lobo fan I understand the move to try and put together a great NIL foundation and hats of to all involved for putting their time and money in. That being said, and I also posted this over on the Lair when it was first announced and will stand by it: Tying the message board to a $20/month subscription is stupid and will simply kill what remains of the internet fanbase. This is more than I would have to pay for the complete NFL Season Gamepass. Even more so as apparently it is not just for posting, but contrary to what was originally announced even just for reading the board. But maybe it's just me and I am too stupid to find the board on the new website.

Yes...if we win a lot or lose a lot, otherwise no.

Will be nice to hopefully see more Lobo fans here, but it sucks about the Lair.

We have been through several, Big Bad Wolf, Red Menace, the tyrannical Lobo Lair run by Supreme Leader Mark Chavez and now finally a well intentioned knife to the heart by Brooklyn.

I definitely remember Red Menance and Lobo Lair under Mark. I used to post there occasionally. It was a very good fan board. Less homerific than most and welcoming of most fans from other teams.

That’s why I was looking for, and still in search of, information on how to start an interactive sports chat, fan website, for UNM fans. Curious as to the cost and time needed. Im retiring soon so…

I was looking into a managed twitter group recently to host a lobo fan forum. I ended up changing jobs and moving to Phoenix so I dropped it. But I'd be interested in helping put something together. I was going to put an offer on this site for Mug, but ended up having to replace an hvac unit and didn't have the cash.

Out of my mind for the Lobos!!

Here’s a possibility if someone is willing and has the time to run one.

I feel like some fan bases (UNLV & now maybe UNM) need to have their own space/forum here since they don’t seem to like “their” team boards.

Well the UNM de facto board has gone pay only which is unfortunate as there already was a small number of regular posters which is now further reduced.  Great boards bring in outside chatter vs eliminating those interactions.

Hey @mikexom @LoboMan59

I just talked to my wife about taking on a new hobby. Putting up a lobo message board. I'd be willing to front the cost and set up.

I'll keep you all posted, but would like some co-conspirators if you are interested or know someone.

Be sure to DM me with the details

DCLobo here (finally got my registration accepted!) - agree 100% and don't call yourself stupid.

I wrote to 505 (Kurt?) stating “I was under the impression that I would still be able to READ forum posts but how do I get there in 505sports?” who nicely responded saying "In order to receive access to the forum, you need to subscribe. That newsletter <an email to me stating "As a paying member, you’ll receive an email in the next 24 hours giving you automatic access to the new website"> was sent to everyone subscribed to our email list."

Given this reply, it appears either a whole slew of us could be called stupid OR the original Lair posting announcing non-members could read but not post to the ‘new’ forum was just really poorly composed!

Sucks that they went that route. I remember a similar situation when the MLB boards got shut down pretty suddenly. I posted on the Dodgers message board for a loooooong time, and then with very little warning all the MLB boards were shut down. A few guys started up a different board, but so few people migrated there that the discussion became really stale and I eventually lost interest in the board. Still kinda bums me out because it was the first message board I ever posted on regularly and I’ve never found a real substitute as a place to talk Dodgers baseball.

I remember from 2009-2013 or so, there were so many members on the Lair. It was a great way for me to get Lobo news as I lived in DC at the time. That place went downhill quickly after the Harvard loss in the NCAAT. I haven't been on the Lair since I was banned by Mark around 2013. It's a bummer about the current situation. The MW board has been a great place for me to get my conference news over the last decade or so.
