Long positions = Pass line bet & backing odds

Short positions = Don't pass bet & backing odds 

Options = Hardways, Come out bets on 2, 3, 7, 11, 12 , Field bets & Big 6/8

Puts & Calls = Come & Don't come bets

But, nothing like knowing X is growing at 30% in a nonvolatile market and trading at 22x ttm or that a $500m market cap biotech w/a P3 trial drug estimated to peak sales at $3 billion could be a 10-bagger if the Rx gets approved.  It's not just chance.  There are real world phenomena driving valuations for most equities at most times. Exceptions, bubbles, and crashes noted.
