Now you’re just being a big baby about it. You’re killing me. In EVERYTHING else in life you have to know what you’re doing to participate. I want a drivers license, so I have to put the time in to follow the rules and be safe. But voting with much much higher stakes on the line? Fvck it.

You need a photo ID to participate in checking out $1 books at the library? You need that ID. But voting on big issues that affect the future of your community and country? Fvck it. You don’t have to know what you’re voting for or prove who you are. I can guarantee you that the founding fathers would massively oppose this insanity. Hell, even the founding mothers would oppose it.

You took from that that I wanted people to be tested to be able to vote? WTF? That is bizarre. No, I don’t propose any change to the status quo. All I am saying is that people need to live up to their Civic Duty, yeah, there’s a word that’s practically extinct in 2023, especially in the Dem Party. As a US citizen, you are obligated to do some non-paid work/effort to keep the country going.

Part of your Civic Duty is to pay your taxes, know the laws on the books, and when you’re voting, know what you’re voting for pertaining to changing laws and those you elect to uphold, change, interpret and enforce the laws. It’s Civic Duty 101 and it’s what this country is founded on. Both Trump and the Dem Party are purposefully dramatically undermining that.

Every adult citizen should have the right to vote.

And you’re against adult citizens doing their Civic Duty. Our founding fathers would consider you a giant dumbass with a dangerous mindset if they were alive today. You have a lot more in common with Teams & Trump than you think.

You think all that because I think every adult American citizen should have the right to vote?

Playing your games. All you care about is getting as many votes CAST as possible for your team. And nothing more. Simply casting a vote doesn’t mean you’ve educated yourself and met your Civic Duty. You’re interested in manufacturing votes and to hell with CD. Adult American citizens in all 50 states already have the right to vote unless you’re in prison or out of prison issues when you get out having been convicted of a felony. Why do you think that is?

A very centrist POV.

Isn’t that what both parties want. They don’t give a shit about being informed. Just vote for my party.

When you look at it closely, how many people do you think are well informed? I’d put it at less than 10%. Most vote straight party or whomever is the the most popular.

You’re absolutely totally wrong about that. You have a big city mentality. A huge amount of the US population is in small towns. And minus some of the irresponsible types, you’d be surprised at how well a lot of small town voters inform themselves, particularly propositions that directly affect them. It’s certainly that way in Kansas right now as I saw. My parents and all my friend’s parents spent the time on voting.

I don’t think you totally got what I was getting at. When I say being an informed voter, I also meant free of duress, intimidation, or just giving your vote away like it’s worth very little. I’m talking about how the Democrat machine wants to also manufacture votes. Pick people up off the streets, bus them to the polls, tell them what they need to do. No ID required. No registration required. I’m talking vote harvesting where anyone can print your ballet, and someone comes to your door and demands that you sign it.

Or in some cases forge it. The Dems own this shit. It’s what they want to do and expand. It’s been going on a long time in smaller amounts. How did Harry Reid beat Ensign for Senate in 1996? He paid to have busses show up at the Indian Reservation north of Reno and his campaign hired people to lure them into the busses to take a ride to vote for him. They got food and whatever, but Reid ended up winning by only 400 votes, and he would’ve lost had he not done that.

It takes a special kind of stupid to bash Civic Duty. You know, common sense coming from our founding fathers.

Who did that, buttboy? LOL. Not surprised that pic is in your rotation.

Very centrist, indeed.

There shouldn’t be any dispute on that.  At first I thought NC position was merely that a non-vote is preferable to an uninformed vote (which I would agree with), but he clearly wants some kind of test or irrationality barrier, no thanks.

everyone knows something that most other people don't know   a vote for a politician favoring the legalization of striking was seen as "irrational" by the moneyed classes in the 1890s. lo and behold, once striking was legal, it led to a much, much, much better life for about 80% of Americans. All voting restrictions just end up being political tools.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Hearing people talk about "educated voters only" while being obtuse on how that would wipe out most of their friends in their trenches is peak America.

This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve seen in a while. No one is talking about banning people from voting because they don’t do their homework and know what they’re voting for. It’s kind of the same idea that you can’t ban shitty people from having shitty kids that makes society a more shitty place. But you can encourage people to be better people and be better parents. You can also encourage people to do their Civic Duty and know what they’re voting for. I know, that’s a stretch for modern Democrats to accept.

Your definition of "civic duty" from earlier actually would not be a gatekeeper for either party.  Jesus, you really are a blind little sheep!  :rotflmfao:
