The Video Games Thread

Played Tears of the Kingdom for a couple hours today and wow. I'm still in the tutorial area, but what little I've seen, the amount of customization and creativity they've added is insane. I'm so excited to delve deeper into the mechanics of this game while exploring a cool new world.

They haven’t done shit with madden in years. It’s a cash cow for them with minimal effort. I sound bitter- sorry. They’re the BORG of video game development. They and activision are very disappointing to me lately.

It's been widely known that they reuse assets from previous games. In Madden 20 practice mode you can see Madden 19 banners on the bleachers and goal posts.

I finished up Jedi Survivor and wow what a game! Really great story and I'm very excited to see how it ends. I had to buy it on my Xbox Series X though because the PC version was nearly unplayable. Even on my Xbox I had significant FPS drops in certain sections and I had my system on performance mode with other graphical options turned off. Respawn has been rolling out updates but it's still rough.

My wife got that game. She's been loving it. 

Not my style, but I like watching her play through it.

I'm holding off on that game for further review . I hated the first one

Anybody else played Cyberpunk 2077 after the latest patch. I was one if the suckers that preorders and quit playing it on the first day because of the absolute debacle at launch. 

Seems they fixed a lot of issues. You can get free 5 hour trial on PS5

So I actually ended up with a 4070 Ti instead. My 4080 order got cancelled because I’m guessing they realized they were selling a $1,500 card for $850. So I got an MSI 4700 Ti. 

 

The lower card is my 1660 Ti that I figured out the issues on and will be sending to my 16 year old in California to replace his awful Radeon card he got from my BIL that’s barely better than his onboard. 

 

I’ve only played FF14 with it so far, but that game is so “taxing” on it that the fans never even spun up. Now I’m going to load up Cyberpunk tomorrow, turn Ray Tracing on, and see how it does at 1080p.

I played the CRAP out of Cyberpunk on Stadia. It ran pretty smoothly on that from day 1. Haven't picked it back up on my PS5, but it's on my list. Luckily I was able to transfer my save so I don't have to start V from scratch.

Is it the RPG aspect? The no fast travel? Which the second one fixed.

For a power fantasy version, check out Force Unleashed 1, and to an extent, 2. Older games, but still fun. From the pre-Disney era.

Any of you nerds going to get Diablo 4? D1 and D2 are all time greats for Me but I so thoroughly hated D3 I’m waffling.

I've only managed a few hours of TotK but somehow it feels familiar and like a new game all at the same time. Plus from what I have gathered from the story so far it feels like they are about to wrap bow on the lore in a way they haven't before. If they don't do an OoT remake after this I will be shocked.

You should try it man! I was off yesterday and the miss worked, so I played all day (instead of doing errands/chores ) and I am loving it! Everything has been improved from the first masterpiece and that sense of excient and wonder is everywhere. Most fun I've had with a game since elden Ring.
