My wife and I are both gamers. She is really into breath of the wild right now. Not my style , but maybe I could give it a shot. I've got a 6 hour plane ride to Maui coming up, I'll need something to keep myself from dying of boredom.

Do it! Breath of the wild is one of my favorite games of all time. I am ridiculously stoked for the sequel that comes out in a couple weeks.

The first Jedi Survivor game was bad IMO. I got maybe three or four hours into it.

I am little tentative about getting the next one.

It was? Sure, it requires grinding, but that goes for all RPGs. And while I've never played them, it has been compared (in a good way) to Dark Souls.

The only parts I truly had issues with, are the minimaps and having to run clear across the planet back to the ship when you finally finished the main mission there. The minimaps were horrendous to navigate (mainly certain areas with crisscrossing paths) and running all the way back after the mission is incredibly anti-climatic.

But some of my favorite parts were simply the banter while on the ship.

...The sequel is currently out of my reach. My PC simply isn't good enough for it, and I do not have any of the next gen consoles.

OK nerds. Jedi Survivor game is out. Just watched the IGN review and they were effusive in their praise. Said it was better than the first. 9/10. I am excited.

Well, that's only for PC, and it seems same day patches will be released with it.

...Still mad though. Simply for not being able to play it. Guess its back to Force Unleashed 1 and 2 to vent frustrations out.

The depth and complexity of BotW were a shock to me when I first played. I honestly didn't think the Switch hardware could support such a massive open world.

I'm reading the Steam reviews and it's getting hammered for performance issues. I decided that I'll be picking it up on my Xbox Series X.

Any of you guys play the big esports titles? League of Legends, etc. I’m not a big gamer, but am getting decent-ish in Rocket League.  I enjoy it a lot, but really started playing just to hang with my brother.

I've heard EA delayed NCAA football for another year. I was really looking forward to that later this summer

It was always a tease. EA is a total disaster anyway.

My 1660 Ti that I bought as a stopgap over three years ago is finally dying on me. I'm running a 980 right now, and it has its own issues.

I'm really looking forward to this thing getting here tomorrow though. Then I'll end up just playing Final Fantasy XIV instead of trying to push it in a taxing game. 😂

I'm still running a 1080 Ti, not sure when to pull the trigger to upgrade...

You gotta tell me if ray tracing is worth it.

It honestly varies from game to game. There are games where it looks great, but also others where there's no significant difference. Resident Evil 4 Remake already looks very good without ray tracing, but Cyberpunk 2077 looks like an entirely different game with it. When is the best time to pull the trigger? I would think now would be the best time while everything is still relatively available and before summer hits. High school kids and college students will be getting out for the summer and will be looking to upgrade their rigs. A few of my students have been asking me about what cards to get because they have summer jobs lined up and will be saving for one. I'm currently running on an Intel i9-10850k with a 3070Ti and it's been able to handle everything I throw at it with ease. The biggest problem I've been seeing lately are terrible PC ports for games. The Last of Us has been out since March and it still has performance issues and Jedi Survivor had a really rough launch as well. It just sucks to spend all this money, but the quality of release for a game is a total crap shoot.

We're planning on moving next year and my CPU (i7 8700k) is also underperforming, so I might just wait until the RTX5xxx series comes out and get a new CPU top of the line CPU with it. Probably less demanding games over the summer when I have the time.
