If you are just looking to shoot shit up  yeah Red Dead could get boring. 

If you want a compelling story and a game changer in the open world experience at a slower pace, yeah red dead 2 is the absolute peak of gaming development. Last of Us 2 is right there with it.

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one. I really tried to enjoy it because of all the hype it's gotten, and I did enjoy it for the first 20 hours or so, but then every quest started to fill the same: go to location A, kill x amount of guys, get chased to location B, kill y amount of same type of guys, go back to camp, get paid

How far did you get into the game. It is by far one of the most compelling stories ever in a video game.

I got to a swamp hick area and then the big city.

I love games with a good story, but the gameplay is more important to me and has to keep me hooked.

Elden Ring is my personal gold standard of a game with a perfect balance of challenge, enemy variety, gameplay, and exploration. Story is VERY cryptic and obscure though.

I have thought about Elden Ring. I have head that it is insanely difficult though. 

Keep going with Red Dead.

It's tough, but fair in my opinion. The only unfair boss is optional.

Unfortunately I think the Red Dead ship has sailed for me. Too many new "cant-miss" games keep coming out and I don't have a ton of time (especialy for long AAA games). Have to be picky in what I spend my "gaming time" on these days.

This is the most compelling argument against Red Dead and GTA to a lesser extent. The missions boil down mostly to a shoot ‘em up. There are twists thrown in but that’s pretty much what you get. The real accomplishment is the story and the world. Arthur Morgan is as well written and thought out character as any in tv or movie history. The world is massive, beautiful and alive. But the missions are repetitive in the gameplay category which, to be fair, is a big reason why anyone plays games.

We don't talk about that bitch Malenia. Took me over 50 tries and I felt like when I beat her i was more lucky than skilled.

Have you tried the new God of War? I would compare it to Elden Ring for quality of story and world building. Not as difficult but amazingly fun anyway.

I just got a new PS5 yesterday and it came with God of War. I will definitely be trying it out soon.

That's pretty damn impressive actually. Took me close to a 100 tries. However, stubborn me refused to use summons during my playthrough. I was lucky too, she didn't use the super slashing bs flying attack at all during her second phase when I finally beat her.

I just completed Resident Evil 4 Remake and it was so damn fun! It took me right back to 2005 and I fell in love all over again. The next game I'll be picking up will be Jedi Survivor. The end of the school year is within reach, so I'll have plenty to play when my summer break starts.

OK nerds. Jedi Survivor game is out. Just watched the IGN review and they were effusive in their praise. Said it was better than the first. 9/10. I am excited.

The first Jedi Survivor game was bad IMO. I got maybe three or four hours into it. 

I am little tentative about getting the next one.

You’re the only person I’ve ever met that said it was bad. The mini map is horrendous but I loved the rest. Are you a Sith?

Hell, I landed a Piper Cub (I think) in Bulldog Stadium as well as Recreation Park (Single A baseball stadium) in Visalia.

My wife and I are both gamers. She is really into breath of the wild right now. Not my style , but maybe I could give it a shot. I've got a 6 hour plane ride to Maui coming up, I'll need something to keep myself from dying of boredom.
