I must be broken. I couldn't finish it. Story was cool, but the gameplay and quests were just so repetitive. I prefer GTA V's setting and fun vehicles if I have to play Rockstar's repetitive game play.

Just finished up Last of Us (2nd playthrough), LoU Left Behind, LoU 2 (first playthrough), and God of War 2018. That was a hell of a run of good games. Working on Death Stranding now. It's weird, but not any weirder than the Metal Gear Solid games Kojima made before it. Ragnarok is on my radar. If you've got PS+ Extra you can get every game I listed above for $0 extra. It's a hell of a catalog.

I thought RDR 2 was very good, but a tad overrated. I would stop well short of masterpiece. RDR 1 I believe to be a masterpiece, but I never finsihed RDR2 for the same reasons you mentioned. I think it's a difference in character preferences too. I found John Marston a much more relatable character and his redemption arc was very compelling. 1 Quote There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. If you want a compelling story and a game changer in the open world experience at a slower pace, yeah red dead 2 is the absolute peak of gaming development. Last of Us 2 is right there with it.

I really tried to enjoy it because of all the hype it's gotten, and I did enjoy it for the first 20 hours or so, but then every quest started to fill the same: go to location A, kill x amount of guys, get chased to location B, kill y amount of same type of guys, go back to camp, get paid

It is by far one of the most compelling stories ever in a video game.

I love games with a good story, but the gameplay is more important to me and has to keep me hooked. Elden Ring is my personal gold standard of a game with a perfect balance of challenge, enemy variety, gameplay, and exploration. Story is VERY cryptic and obscure though. I have thought about Elden Ring. I have head that it is insanely difficult though. Keep going with Red Dead.

Too many new "cant-miss" games keep coming out and I don't have a ton of time (especialy for long AAA games). Have to be picky in what I spend my "gaming time" on these days. The missions boil down mostly to a shoot ‘em up. There are twists thrown in but that’s pretty much what you get. The real accomplishment is the story and the world. Arthur Morgan is as well written and thought out character as any in tv or movie history. The world is massive, beautiful and alive. But the missions are repetitive in the gameplay category which, to be fair, is a big reason why anyone plays games. 2 Quote We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. As for gold standards: @bornontheblue Last Of Us >>>>Last of Us 2 Have you tried the new God of War? I would compare it to Elden Ring for quality of story and world building. Not as difficult but amazingly fun anyway. 1 Quote There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. However, stubborn me refused to use summons during my playthrough. I was lucky too, she didn't use the super slashing bs flying attack at all during her second phase when I finally beat her. ridgeview2
I just completed Resident Evil 4 Remake and it was so damn fun! It took me right back to 2005 and I fell in love all over again. The next game I'll be picking up will be Jedi Survivor. The end of the school year is within reach, so I'll have plenty to play when my summer break starts. madmartigan
OK nerds. Jedi Survivor game is out. Just watched the IGN review and they were effusive in their praise. Said it was better than the first. 9/10. I am excited. Quote There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
