Hoke made  $1,223,000 in basic salary and bonuses in 2022  If we get in the Pac 12 the next coach will make maybe 4 million. I really think the Aztecs will be below 500 in 2023 and Hoke will be gone.9Hisbonuses can go up to two million and his salary increases by 50k a year. until 2025 end of the contract.

We'll be better this year.  We've improved at every spot other than LB.  Not just on paper, but I saw with my own eyes offensive linemen that actually move their feet. 😄  RB is TBD.  Probably lost Morrow, but got some good talent to try and replace him.  It's the Air Raid.  If the OL can actually protect, we will rely a lot less on the running game anyway.  DL should be at least as good as last year, and D backfield has improved.  I'm going to hold off on predicting a bowl game, although it feels like one is in the cards, because it's CSU.  Norvell is on the right track but it's a hell of a rebuild.

CSU brings in the top rated recruit in the conference at RB. RB is typically the easiest position for trFR to contribute immediately.

While the conference does have some holes to fill, it looks like they'll have some pretty good defenses. CSU, Wyoming, Air Force, and Fresno return a lot from good defenses. SDSU losses a lot, but they always seem to reload. Boise lost some talent on defense, but they have a lot of proven guys replacing them. I expect them to be good on that side of the ball.

Yeah I don't get the doom and gloom from some Boise fans regarding the defense.  Were JL and Jones great?  Yeah, but not so in pass coverage.  The were merely ok there and got beat a lot, they were just amazing against the run and from a leadership role.  The new guys will be better in coverage.  Mattlock is the only guy we lose without a weakness that could be exploited, we won't replace him.

Boise does bring in two pretty good looking transfers at DT. Two of the guys replacing the safeties were top 8 on the team in trackles. I think they'll be pretty good.

And we added at DE/edge too.  Still, Mattlock was so strong against the run and pass and such a leader...

Yeah, the defense could be really good if the transfers pan out. But I still feel good about the guys returning (outside of the depth).

Regarding Matlock, Boise does have a couple of meaty boys coming in.

Oledipo and Robinson are two amazing cover safeties.  About as good against the pass as JL and Jones were against the run.  I really don' think we lose much overall at the Safety position which is where Boise fans think the secondary should be worse.  Pass coverage should be improved.  DJ coming back is huge at the LB spot.  I think this will be a strong defense, we just not might see it early but will as the year goes on.  On offense...I don't see a team on the schedule that can shut down our run game.

Tuebner and Oladipo both had more tackles last year than Jones, and that was as backups. The projected new starters on the front 7 (assuming none of the transfers end up starting) bring back 5 sacks and 13.5 tfl.

The back 7 should be good (assuming Markel Reed is fully healthy), but it will be much less physically imposing.

Three posts between the two of us today, yet nether has typed you new HC's name yet.  DAMN...it's right on the tip of my tongue.

I'm not going to discuss that bet, because

#1 - Sorry... that $100 is ear marked to park in your new rented stadium's prk'g lot

#2 - You haven't answered my questions form my last post yet.

If only we had a sub-board where we could post & discuss recruiting news...

Wake me up in 456-days when that kid is actually in a Nevada Southern jersey & ready to step on the field at a Reb for the 1st-time.

Then only place I see this kid is a 4-Start is on his own Twitter pg.  ESPN & On-3 BOTH have him as a 3-Star

We have this capable RB coming in from NoDak State,

So, no immediate pressure on ESPN 4* (282 on ESPN's 300) Damian Henderson to produce as a true frosh:

Good thread.

I think the right coach could have sustained success at Hawaii.  I don't think sustained success is possible at San Ho, they have and always will be up and down.

One silly thing in that article about Fresno is that "they burst onto the scene under PH".  As if they hadn't built a program under Sweeney.

I suspect the first time anyone outside of the PCAA really thought about Fresno was the Sweeney v Perez game, which got a little press in an era when it was really hard for non power teams to even get mentioned on TV.

I think it's safe to say that when SDS gets an invite to the Pac a new coach won't be far behind.

I thought the same. Hill took over a program which already had a strong foundation. Murray isn’t very old so there’s that.

Sad...I know.  CSU fans have known about this for months.  We just haven't been very vocal about it for obvious reasons.

¿Are you surprised because of what you know about Avery's character, or simply because this is news to you?
