If it wasn’t for those early decisions the north wouldn’t have had the capital to exploit the Industrial revolution. I don’t think you’re wrong here, for what it’s worth. but I also don’t think slavery was the yoke on our early development we wish it was in the agrarian 1700s. In the 1800s, when the economy shifted, you’re spot on.

We are talking a few years, the economy was shifting, the industrial revolution had begun.  The same Reason it sucked in 1790 is the same reason it sucked in 1820.

Guys, you’re both missing the plot here. Slavery was a yoke in the 1700’s. The people at the time didn’t know how to deal with it. The political power brokers in Virginia were constantly walking the line of going broke. The only enduring capital they could rely on was owning people. Washington, Jefferson, Madison and the rest constantly had to keep switching whatever crops they grew because the damn thing didn’t work as well as free labor. This gave them free time to become geniuses but they were always one bad harvest away from selling off their wealth, which was a big house, a lot of acres they couldn’t tend to, and the people they owned to work it.

Slavery died out in the North because it was a yoke. It was dying as an idea among the Southern elite’s too. That’s why in the constitution they spell out the exact time when the foreign slave trade was to be outlawed. Northern innovation and westward expansion changed the game. The cotton engine industrialized slavery, allowing a crop only fertile in South Carolina to that point, to be highly profitable in regions of the Deep South. Where before that the different type of cotton was completely inefficient to produce, now it became a money maker. If, that is, you had the resources to buy the land and own the people necessary to make it work. Most didn’t.

Slavery in 1787 was an unfortunate evil, even to the slavers. The founders quarreled about this. It’s their one true inexcusable failing. They knew better, but couldn’t find a way to get rid of it. By 1820 it was an industry that needed a better argument to prolong its existence. It was a “positive good” rather than an unfortunate evil. It needed to expand to survive, (hey Mexico, nice bit of land you got there), because it was failing at home and if it didn’t it wouldn’t last. And everybody knew it, most of all the future confederates. So when we destroyed it, all that wealth went away. The south was broke, King Cotton was false, and to this day the lie that it built America persists on the exact arguments John C. Calhoun was making. It’s funny if nothing else.

Hamilton died almost penniless too, by the way.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

It’s people like you that are vested in keeping racism going and victimization going, yet you pretend that you don’t. You’re the worst type of person because you’re a phony. It’s your stupid left wing victimization culture you perpetually pimp that’s keeping some blacks down.

Guess what? In life we all have to get over shit and move on. People like you talk like nothing ever bad happens to anyone, and no one else has to pull up their bootstraps and move on. You think blacks have it so bad in 2023. News flash! They don’t, asshole.

Ask anyone on the street what bad has happened in their life, and you’ll be surprised. Sexually molested by a relative or parent, have a chronic disease that they’ve had to learn to deal with, someone close died that impacted their life, lost their job and became homeless, have some sort of disability…..it’s pretty amazing.

Wow your post is phucking dumb lol.

I never said there’s any hope for you & your epic dumb perpetual victimization narrative and policies for blacks. If you haven’t figured out how dysfunctional and destructive your narrative & policies are by now, there’s no hope for you.
