Big Ten has already invited Oregon and Washington

^^^ I like Fresno and UTSA to PAC if it takes 14 to get a good media deal.  However, the PAC is the PAC and from what I have read via PAC mouthpiece Wilner outta San Jose Mercury News...if it has to be 14...it is the Tulane and Rice.  San Diego State and SMU are super solid for a jump to 12.  No reason at all to go to 14.  Just keep it all together and get a decent media rights deal for no longer than 6 or 7 years, including the obligatory GOR lock up.

SDSU and SMU aren’t going to save the PAC. The PAC can’t even get a deal as good as the B-12 WITH Oregon and Washington. So it’ll be even worse with 2 G5’s added. The PAC could add SMU and SDSU, and that version of that PAC-10 might last a year before UA, ASU, CU and UU bail to the B-12. CAL and Stanford would have to weigh going Indy. If Washington and Oregon really are gone, this is almost certainly going to happen.

Well I guess that means Washington State and Oregon State are coming to the MWC

They'd go to the Big 12 before the Mountain West. The Big 12 has already stated that they'd like to be a coast to coast conference and adding those two teams would get them there. It's all about money and Washington State and Oregon State would make more money in the Big 12 (who has a national TV contract) than they would in the Mountain West.

Nevermind.

It’s hard to foresee a scenario where the Big 12 add OSU and WSU. I honestly think they’d prefer SDSU to either of those two schools.

I agree. I think the Big 12 would like to have the Aztecs. I got discombobulated and forgot them in my earlier comment. That happens more and more now that I'm old. :oldman: If they go after SDSU, then they'll want to add another school to bring it to 14. What about UNLV? Las Vegas is a great sports/entertainment destination.

There is no way OSU or WSU end up in the Big12. The 4 corner states have already had extensive talks with the Big12 and there has never been one shred of interest shown to bring those 2 along too.

The PAC as we know it has been divided up and spoken for. The $$ just doesn't add up for it to stay intact as is or with possible addons. The only question left is what does Cal do? Stanford will find their way one way or another but Cal has not shown any interest in making athletics a priority or worrying about getting caught up in the whole arms race.

Rumor is that officials from OSU, WSU, and Cal had talks with the MWC directly after USC and UCLA leaving was announced. They realized early that they were the 3 on the outside.

I don't believe that rumor.

Would Stanford really drop down to the MWC?

Not a chance.  They would go indy short term until they got an invite from one of the power leagues.  I can see PAC, BiG, B12.  No way do i ever see a Stanford in the MWC.  Oregon State and WSU i can see in MWC depending on how the dust settles.  Stanford has deep pockets.  They wouldn't need to panic to find a spot immediately if things went south that quickly with the remaining PAC schools.  My money would be on the BiG, even if it took a few years.

Um, so you’re saying that the Big-12 would pick SDSU and UNLV over two of Utah, CU, ASU and UA? They only need 4 to get to 16. They’re not going to be the Big-18. LOL.

I would argue that throw out the P5 money and OSU and WSU aren't super attractive expansion candidates for the MWC either.   The MWC would of course take them but when the P5 gravy train runs out, I'd guess both would be middling MWC programs.

Um no, I didn't say that. They could go after those two and some Pac 12 teams as well. The Big 12 commish did say that if they expand further they'd like to go coast to coast. They've got UCF coming on, so there's the Atlantic coast. SDSU would add the Pacific coast. I included UNLV because it's become a mecca for the sports/entertainment indu$try. And it has a large, fast growing population. They could add SDSU, UNLV and some Pac 12 teams too. And the B1G might want to bring in more Pac 12 teams, other than just UCLA and USC. Were all just guessing here...only time will tell.

While I can’t see the Big 12 being interested in those two, I’d take them in a heartbeat in the MWC.

WSU in particular is barely breaking even right now due to a lot of debt.  What happens when their revenue gets slashed?  It could get ugly in Pullman.

that the big 12 would like to have SDSU.  More like they might settle for SDSU.  Might.

Nope. Not sure where you get that from anything I wrote. I said Stanford would find their own way one way or another, meaning they would not be a part or any merger of PAC leftovers and the MWC. They would go independent or eventually join a larger conference.

I would say both are already are middling MWC programs even with PAC $$. They've both been smacked around by MWC teams in recent years.
