Texas Outlet Mall Mass Shooting

Interesting. The shooter's last name was Garcia and supposedly police used an interpreter to help interview his family.

I wonder which neo-Nazi, far-right extremist beliefs he bought into.

"Authorities have not released a motive, but a patch on his chest said “RWDS,” an acronym that stands for Right Wing Death Squad, according to people familiar with the investigation. The phrase is popular among right wing extremists, neo-Nazis and white supremacists, they said. In addition to the weapons found on his body, investigators found another five guns inside his car nearby, these people said."

Did you know that there was actually a group called "Jews For Hitler."  They would show up at Nazi rallies and chant "down with us!"  After Hitler came to power, the group was disbanded, and its members deported to the camps with all the other Jews.  Never underestimate the psychological imperative of the weak minded to desperately attempt to ingratiate themselves with their would be oppressors.

I'm no fan of shooting up Wall Street or Main Street. It would be nice if we could agree to some real reform rather than pointing fingers at bad ideas in order to excuse doing nothing. While more people die.

Yeah well real reform requires reaching a compromise with the fans of shooting up Wall Street and Main Street. Not a great first foot forward for building trust.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Love me some Beadle.  Any idea who she pissed off that she doesn't have a prominent job?

The guy in charge at ESPN wasn't a fan of her work ethic.  And it sounds like she was wildly overpaid by former head John Skipper.  Might have been the cocaine.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

Yep and I realize that.

But I am wondering which "other" he was against, his own background or a need to feel superior to some other group.?

The fact is those sociopaths intent on killing innocent people will get it done one way or another.

There's no evidence to support that contention.  When was the last time a truck drove into a classroom?  When was the last time somebody drove a car into their (former) warehouse or office?  There was a handgun suicide-murder attempt in a fancy subdivision in Eagle the other day.  Why didn't the guy drive a car over a cliff as occasionally occurs?  How many murders in Columbus, East St. Louis, Chicago, or even Albuquerque happened this year where a vehicle, a bomb, a baseball bat, or even a blade was the lethal weapon as compared to firearms?

The solutions are difficult for many complex reasons, but it's guns that kill tens of thousands now every year.  It's guns that are overwhelmingly used in mass killings.  Toss the sound bites away.

Dysfunctional politics.  Lowest healthcare outcomes with the highest per capita costs in the developed world.  Mass shootings just about every other day.  Too big to fail banks.  People rationing their insulin.  Rampant racism and misogyny.  Banana Republic levels of political corruption and oligarchy.  Half the population reads at or below a 6th grade level.  Proto-fascist fetishizing of a grotesquely bloated military.   And on and on and on.

Shithole.

Like I said I understand we have issues. But we are fortunate than most people out here. Just ask why so many immigrants wanna move here every year? Where would you rather live my dude?

Understand a lot of people are pissed and embarrassed of our country right now.

We can be so much better and in many ways, we are moving backwards. That’s what he’s talking about.

We are up to 200 mass shootings this year and it’s early May. If I were from a developed country and were thinking about a move to the USA, I’d be thinking twice.

You can’t go into malls, schools or grocery stores in your neighborhood anymore without looking over your shoulder.

Yes that is true and it seems like nothing is getting done about it. Can't Biden put sanctions on the NRA?

Rolling Stone claims to have seen internal investigation documents that the FBI thinks the shooter was not just a neo-Nazi but also an incel. Also discharged from the military for "mental health concerns".

"The suspected mass shooter who killed at least eight people at an Allen, Texas mall on Saturday frequently posted pro-white supremacist and neo-Nazi materials on social media, according to an FBI bulletin reviewed by Rolling Stone.

The FBI’s “review and triage of the subject’s social media accounts revealed hundreds of postings and images to include writings with racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist rhetoric, including neo-Nazi materials and material espousing the supremacy of the white race,” the bulletin reads.

The document also says the alleged shooter was discharged from the military in 2008 amid “mental health concerns.” The Defense Department did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

Investigators believe the shooter was a neo-Nazi and an “incel,” according to an internal email circulated by Texas law enforcement."

She’s right. It only took two pages for posters here to go from “everyone who doesn’t do exactly what I want is complicit” to “maybe if somebody shot up Wall Street and legislatures we’d get what we want”. Can’t believe nobody is buying that line of thinking.

She is right about that, for sure. She’s also being disingenuous when she says that that locking up more people will fix this or that abstract mental health interventions will stop the carnage. If we’re tired of anti-gun activists reaching for a solution that cannot be, then we should also be tired of pro-gun people lying to themselves that guns aren’t a big part of the problem in a country where there are so many that anyone who wants one can easily get one. It would be refreshing if we were all honest and said this is just part of American life, and it won’t change until the culture changes. In our current environment, I’ve yet to see an idea that is both politically feasible and has the potential to make a real impact.

I think a huge disconnect is GOP leaders have drilled very, very well into their voters that any reform is just Democrats trying to take their guns. Hard stop.

Some might say, C’mon, these people can see deeper than this right?  But can they? Look at many of the MAGAs/GOPs here. I’ve heard them say everyone is trying to ban guns all the time.
