@bornontheblue. Wet dream may come to fruition.

NEW YORK (AP) — In the days since Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felonies in his criminal hush money trial, Republicans who view the case as politically motivated have coalesced around a new rallying cry: Prosecute the left.

Candidates, officeholders and members of the former president's family have amplified Trump's calls for retribution against political enemies and urged their fellow Republicans to start charging Democrats with crimes.

“Time for Red State AGs and DAs to get busy,” Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia wrote on the social platform X, formerly Twitter, after a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty.

Do it! It needs to be done to keep the other side honest. They will be more careful to use it when the other side is willing to return fire.

In case visual stuff didn't cut it, here is from 06.01.24 an Amicus podcast w/guest Ryan Goodman explaining the charged verdict. Edited for a little brevity and formatting w/only a few (added explanations):

"...There was no way for them to reach a jury, a guilty verdict without passing through a box that they had to check off.

And that box was, this was election fraud. So this is an election fraud case...

...They had to say to themselves that Donald Trump, beyond a reasonable doubt, caused business documents to be falsified.

And those are the 34 counts with one check plus one check entered into the record two different ways. Falsified business records with an intent to commit or conceal another crime. (Ş 175.10)

There’s only one other crime. That predicate crime is a New York election law, which is to use unlawful means to promote a candidate in an election. (Ş 17-152)

And that’s it. So it’s falsifying business records with the intent to commit or conceal another crime.  That other crime is unlawful means of promoting a candidate in the 2016 election. What does unlawful means mean? That’s where the jury did not need to be unanimous.

My criminal procedure professor in law school said there is no consensus on the point but unlawful is often distinguished from illegal in that unlawful refers to conduct not sanctioned by statutory or case law whereas the default for illegal conduct is something which is statutorily designated to constitute a crime. As such, "unlawful" covers a broader range of actions than does "illegal." But that's in a general sense because such arguable ambiguity is often resolved by interpreting legislative intent.

"Ambiguous" statutory - or contractual - language is that which can reasonably be interpreted to have more than one meaning. In my world, the preferred interpretation should be that which makes it more likely for Crooked Don to be convicted.

Whether there is anything there or not is irrelevant. What is important is getting the guilty verdict and the label felon, just like the democrats do.  That is why we need to do this in Mississippi

I see that it may have been a little too heavy reading for @retrofade Or maybe reading real analysis leads to conclusions that he doesn't want to conclude

If there's nothing there it won't get through a grand jury.

Lol! Example: 85% of the respondents to Michael Smerconish's poll of yesterday (maybe about half of whom are Dems) disagree with that Phillips guy about pardoning Crooked Don.

It appears I’m right again. Why you guys every question me is ridiculous
