Unified thread on all the legal woes of trump & his clown cohorts

Recommended Posts

Hope Hicks was the big news yesterday. Damning testimony.  Trump lawyers no doubt will be going after Cohen, but mostly in the court of public opinion.  Hicks, Pecker, court documents, payment records, etc. have corroborated Cohen.  Kind of ironic if this case, (far, far less egregious than J6 or the documents) sends 45 to the hoosegow.

Goodman's analysis w/court docu links.

@Bob any opinion on the recent court proceedings?

You guys are pathetic for sitting on pins and needles concerning a man allegedly banging a porn star.

I was listening to some legal talking head the other day, and he thinks some of these charges will get overturned on appeal. Think it was specifically the ones related to the election? Something like that.

Assuming guilty on charges otherwise no appeal.

The case is shaping up pretty tight.   But, no predictions...

Yeah I don’t really care that he banged a porn star and cheated on his wife.. don’t care that he paid her to keep quiet. I don’t think it had a negative influence or impact on his job as president.

Trying to steal an election is different though.

Well yea, I thought that went without saying that is assuming guilty verdicts…

"Banging a porn star" is not the issue.  That is what the right-wing talking point.

Donald Trump had all the time in the world to pay her off if it was for his family.  Instead he only rushed to consummate the deal right after the "October Surprise" Access Hollywood tape.  It was a political decision to make the payoff to help his campaign.  This payoff may have been the only reason we are even still talking about this lunatic.  He very well could have lost in 2016 had this information been diclosed to voters.

He created an elaborate ruse to have Michael Cohen basically launder the money for him so nobody could tie it back to him.  All of this isn't necessarily a crime had he paid the money personally.

David Pecker, on the other hand was just paying off all these women on behalf of Donal Trump and not reporting it at all as a campaign contribution.

Instead because Donald Trump regularly commits tax fraud, non-profit fraud, and business fraud he decided to do his modus operandi and wanted to EXPENSE this personal payment and campaign contribution as a business expense.  All of this was done to conceal and layer a ton of complexity on the transaction to fool the public and the federal election overseers.  His normal fraudulent ways of doing business is what caught him with this charge.  Remember Donald Trump is "smarter" than the rest of us so that is why he pays zero taxes...right...and he does illegal things like calling a personal campaign contribution to a port star a business expense to lower his taxable income.

Every election Donal Trump has participated in he has tried to steal.  In 2016, it came in the form of colluding with the Russians and making illegal laundered illegal campaign contributions at the 11th hour to keep information from the public.

It is an absolute +++++ing tragedy that Merrick the meek decided to take a pass on this federal election interference charge, especially after listening to David Pecker.  David Pecker and Donald Trump basically had an ongoing scheme to violate federal campaign finance laws.  Pecker was making all these payoffs in violation of Federal Law and nobody got in trouble except for Michael Cohen!

This is a case about a conspiracy to illegally make payments to keep information from voters on the cusp of an election and to make, receive, and cover-up illicit, secret campaign contributions.  It is about election fraud.  "Banging a porn star" is not illegal and that is not why he is being charged.  The cover up is the crime.

Back when I was still a registered Democrat, I wanted to see Bill Clinton impeached for having perjured himself under oath. I didn't care at all if he was given head by another woman while married to Hillary nor did I want to see him removed from office. However, as even Richard Nixon eventually admitted, our country shouldn't allow a president to commit a felony and get off scot-free. Similarly, that Trump paid Stormy Daniels not to divulge their banging is instrumental to proving that he defrauded the government by cheating on his taxes. And he did so massively. Indeed, had Merrick Garland not been such a GD wimp, the tax fraud allegation would not have been confined to state court but would have been adjudicated in federal court.

And as an aside, how stupid was that fat-ass, who alleged he was worth $10 billion, not to pay that paltry $130 thousand in cash? But I digress.

That's funny, since that's not the issue being litigated.

Because of Donald Trump and the republican cult formed around him, presidents will never be held to a higher standard in our lifetime.

It's not about banging a pornstar or paying her off. Those things are legal.

It's about the fact he used Campaign Funds to do so. That's a no-no.
