The "UN"-Official SDSU to the Pac thread.

Too many over at Aztecmesa.

If the PAC decides to expand then I think SDSU has the best chance of any school. The but is that I am not sure the PAC presidents are convinced yet of wanting to expand.

And this is why people need to listen to the P12 Presidents. All they’re said is we are doing what’s best for 10 schools and are “open” to expansion.

Compare that to Yormark of the B12, who has been very open about wanting the 4 corner schools and expansion in general.

Lol at anyone who thought SDSU has the PAC by the balls. They don’t have anywhere near enough street cred for those claims.

The laborous topic of SDSU inability to Play The Game correctly.  IMO, the SDSU President should be held under scrutiny.  She over-played her hand.  She wrote letters willy nilly to MWC proper thinking she had a likely PAC invite with all of its media rights retard junks about to unfold prior to July 1.  She wanted to pay $17m and not $34m by one stroke of a minute that crossed midnight June 30.

Yes, she was in Houston for the SDSU hoops national championship and well deserved re all that.  Yes, she does believe the empty southern California re UCLA/USC departure to B1G can be filled and fulfilled by San Diego.

She has hopes.  She has dreams.  She is just not playing The Game correctly.  Or is she?

OTOH, if SDSU does not remain in the MWC, the current MWC media rights holders (CBS and Fox methinks) can 're-visit' the contract and make qualified financial adjustments downwards.

Good luck, madam President of SDSU.  Is she thoughtful?  Is she calculating?  Is she desperate?  Is she back-flip reactive opportunistic re PAC mayhem?  One thing we all know, she needs to write her letters a bit more better than she has done so thus far.

AZ President has already shot him down. All that info is well published. The Athletic and your B12 homer Dodd have reported it plenty of times. Since you like to split hairs, Brett isn't announcing the 4 corners daily but I think anyone with a brain can figure out who and what he's talking about.

False. And where did you get that the AZ president ‘shut him down’? Are you seeing this from the shapes in that the clouds you like to yell at?

You can’t blame sdsu for trying, they have to look out for themselves.  It’ll work out well for them in the end because the PAC is desperate and will have to expand and they’ll only have a one year buyout then.  Good on MWC for holding their ground.  It all should’ve stayed behind closed doors sure but here we are.

Lol. When someone tells you this, do you think it means hey, I’ll be right over or get out of my office?

"Robbins called the steady drum beat of speculative media reports that have the Pac-12 on the verge of falling apart “propaganda.” He acknowledged that he has spoken with Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark, just not recently."

“He’s aggressive. He has big plans for the Big 12. I wish him well. All 10 of us are focused on the (media rights) deal,” Robbins said“

From the San Diego U-T tonight:

"A week before President Adela de la Torre sent a June 13 letter to her counterparts in the Mountain West “to formally notice that San Diego State University intends to resign” from the conference, she was at the University of Hawaii for a summer board meeting with presidents and athletic directors.

On the second day, during a closed session with only Commissioner Gloria Nevarez and the 11 other presidents (and not ADs), de la Torre discussed SDSU’s plans to leave the Mountain West for the Pac-12 or another power conference.

“Basically,” related one conference source with knowledge of the meeting, “she said her goodbyes.”

In this quote he admits to having discussions with another conference and calls the media propaganda artists..that doesn’t qualify as ‘shutting down’ anything.  Quite the opposite really.  He’s more recently expressed unrealistic expectations for the pac media deal too, laying the groundwork for cause for departure too.  You’re just being selective in your recollection, pretty on brand for you actually.

We’ve all seen your homemade excel 1 page spreadsheet with “realistic” media numbers.

When did you type this up btw?

You realize that is from your boy John Wilner’s article with direct quotes from your commissioner GK using that very data for his media discussions, right? Every time you bring that up it makes you look dumber.

As I predicted, a complete clown show and SDSU came walking out of that bathroom with nothing but their dick in their hand.  Or to use another metaphor, SDSU is the guy with the OK girlfriend that he rushes to break up with because the cheerleader said "hi" to him in the hallway.

I doubt we'd have trouble filling a whole basketball schedule (for the men's team anyway). Football is a different story, though less games to worry about.

There are already four OOC games scheduled. I Suspect most of the MW will keep their game against SDSU as they will be looking for a game on short notice as well

She is a WOKE POS poser, nothing more (as demonstrated prior at U of A)...

Wilner is my boy? Since when?  It’s no wonder you use a cherry picked set of data that shows UCF and Houston at the top of the list and ahead of USC and pretty much ahead of the entire P12 as your go to pillar of defense. Lmao.

USC came in 14th in tv ratings in 2022.   Utah came in 33rd.

Meanwhile, UCF came in 61st with an average of 510k viewers. Powerhouse Houston was all the way up to 78th with an average of 242k viewers per game.

BTW, I’m still waiting for the link that shows AZ’s President has unrealistic media expectations which will be cause for departure.

No, they dont.  No need to look for a game to replace a conference one.  Simply re-arrange the conference schedule.

Maybe somebody thought that, but I think most of us were reading the tea leaves from the media and understand that SDSU
1)  Is the only available FBS school in recruit-heavy Southern California,
2) Wins its market (unlike other G5 schools that have been called up),
3) Has a market at least as good as the average Pac 12 school,
4) Has heavily invested in its athletic facilities, and
5) Has the highest combined football+basketball winning percentage in the entire nation over the past 10 years.

https://sonsofmontezuma.com/2022/07/20/by-the-numbers-part-ii-dma-analysis-confirms-sdsus-worth/

Regardless of what the Pac-10/12 decides to do, SDSU will be in a great position going forward due to
1) It will have a better chance of getting into the playoffs than many bottom feeder P5 schools, and
2) Its athletics will be turbo boosted from rent paid by professional sports entities renting its facility.

Lol. It will be one of those P5 bottom feeder schools if it joins the PAC. Actually it would have a better chance of making the playoffs if it remained in the MWC.
