Boise State leaving the WAC.

Are you sure? Someone said the same of TCU and then I checked. If they did they are the rare exception since about 2010.

Hawaii leaving the WAC could be another example.

Like 98% sure.  The exit fee was pretty minimal, it was not until after Boise left that it increased to 5 million, which Fresno and Nevada negotiated down.

There are usually two components to these clauses. The fee and the formal withdrawal notification timing. Most of the time one or both components vary from the clause and are instead negotiated. I assume when the timing portion will be violated the fees increase(in negotiation)but I’m not sure that’s always true.

Considering the WAC eventually lost FBS fb due to the MW raid I’m guessing most conferences have introduced or revised their clauses to try and make it more difficult since that time. Even the SEC has exit fees now.

I love the MWC but the reality is it has a history of being petty from its inception.  See the Boise only set of rules when Boise joined (blue on blue).  Not wanting to let SDSU back in in 2013.  The secret vote Boise was not present for to end the term sheet deal.  Not allowing BYUTV to have rebroadcast rights instead of the MWC network, even though it would have made no financial difference.  Some "odd" scheduling for which ever school is on the shit list (Boise somehow every other year has had their last road game be to Laramie...coincidence right?).  Boise has some blame too.

I will be out of town backpacking from the 14th through the 30th.  Two trips broken up by a day.  I can see coming back to civilization and having and reading any number of scenarios from SDSU being formally offered membership by the PAC 12 for the 24-25 season.  Membership for the 25-26 season.  The PAC announcing they will not expend.  SDSU and the MWC making nice

It saddens me that two other Aztecs agree with you on this and I sincerely hope you and they will be incorrect.

I've now strongly supported SDSU sports emotionally and financially for 25 years. If you are correct and SDSU will remain in the MWC infinitely, the money I've been donating will go 100% to a WORTHWHILE cause and SDSU can bite me.

I am confused.  They are agreeing that nobody knows how it is going to play out.  Neither I nor they are making predictions.  Who the hell knows, as @kingpotato said nothing would surprise me at this point.

Not sure how you left out the airport meeting since the teams didn’t get their way…

Lmao, the scheduling stuff was pretty obvious after the Big East thing. SDSU had some weird schedules(fb) the first 3/4 years after all that.

It sure seems like the conf is petty at times, not sure if that applies in this situation with SDSU though. That said, the schools who have always been D1 who are now watching former 1AA and D2 school on track to eventually leave them behind probably doesn’t sit well with administrators and fans alike.

Dude I love fans like you that throw this kinda skin in the game and have serious passion.

I would say let cooler heads prevail for a minute. This is still a fresh wound.  We rarely make solid decisions when it’s all based on emotion.

I disagree. One of the reasons you hire an attorney is so the attorney can speak for you so you don't put your foot in your mouth and prejudice your case and embarrass yourself.

It would behoove both De La Torre and Nevarez to heed that caveat and stop appearing to be highly educated female versions of Donald Trump.

Nevarez is an Attorney, graduated from Boalt law school and has a specialty in sports law.   In fact, a side job is as a lecturer on the topic at USF.  So I kind of doubt she is putting her foot in her mouth.

De La Torre and Wicker have handled this situation about as well as Welty handled the WAC debacle.   My understanding from the Fresno board is they tried to use the Big 12 to leverage money from the PAC and pissed the Big 12 off.

Yeah, no persecution complex here.  SDSU and it's mouthy AD have been model members of the MWC, and the MWC is still out to get them.  Unbelievable!!

Since there was no exit fee at the time, TCU followed the bylaws to a T.

Same with the Big East.  Paid the 5 million fee without playing a game.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

Yeah but there was a 27 month notification requirement that was not met. It’s why TCU was sued by the Big East iirc. It would be weird to be sued for following the clause exactly, no?
