I’m not arguing the the MM units shouldn’t stay…I’m pointing out that the “smallish jackpot” Spaztecs was referring to was $28M, not the $11M NorCalCoug was laughing at.

You have a warped sense of what a jackpot is.

I don't see any notion of the MWC needing to do anything to be "fair" or that not doing so is some type of retribution or dickish move.  We have a contract.  We agreed to it.  That is the "fair" part.  I also think there is nothing wrong with SDSU looking at options regarding a potential exit.

I view it like a lease, where someone is looking to terminate the contract early.  If the lessor-lessee relationship was great, the lessor could allow for an early termination, a pro-rated rate, waive early termination fees, or they could not.  To go against the contract for the sake of the lessor shows a great relationship manifesting itself into largesse.  That isn't "fair", that is a great relation and action.  But there is nothing wrong with saying "Hey, we signed a deal, and you are looking to move on, so we have the contract and you know the deal".  Now that is "fair".

At least let us discuss this rationally.

Why are you always so rational?  Do you even mwcboard?

UNLV did NOT vote to increase the fees, fwiw.

Good to know. Do you know who did and did not? Just curious. UNLV might be a consideration for the PAC in 2030. You need to show more on the court and field I think. But, the PAC doesn't beat the B12 deal without the San Diego and Dallas market according to Canzano's sources.

Isn't honoring the contract "fair"?

Again, Houston, Cincy and UCF all negotiated reduced fees for leaving their conference.

I think the difference is SDSU already tried to leave once and they haven’t really hidden their disdain for the MWC.  Why should the MWC do SDSU any favors?

BYU, Utah, and TCU all took far more value from the conference than $11M.  Sheesh, some of you Aztec fans sure have an inflated sense of worth.  😂

What value did Houston, Cincy and UCF take from the AAC when they left? And that conference negotiated with them for reduced exit fees. If the MWC wants to play hardball, they can I suppose. But it would not sit well with its more valuable members and wouldn't look good for them in expansion. Who would want to join a conference that punished a member for accepting an invite to a P5 conference while leaving them $11M in MM units?

There could still be a reduced fee but for the MW, doesn't it make sense to start with the highest number and go down from there?  For SDSU it makes sense to go from the lowest number.

This is business and not unusual from either side.

Yep, was reported in multiple outlets at the time. It was some lady that worked in the SDSU AD at the time who sent an email to the BigXII expounding on all the difficulties of having BYU as a conference partner and how they were difficult to work with.

They don't need an email to know that.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

No, they didnt.  They just agreed to stretch the multi-year payout.  The fee to leave early was actually not defined.

SdSu would make up that difference in one year with PAC12. They'll be all right.

Definitely, can’t wait for BYU to throw its weight around in the BigXII.  You guys will be looking back fondly on the partnership with Texas.

Meh...y'all are child's play compared to UT.  We handled you once, again is no problem.

They shouldn't. Business is business. SDSU should act in their best interests and the same for the MW.

If the MWC wants to expand, it should treat its current members fairly. Last I looked, SDSU schedules games in both FB and BB with BYU, who left the MWC. I am sure CSU, AFA, Boise and UNLV are paying attention to how the conference is treating a member than is leaving for a better conference. When SDSU leaves, they are leaving behind $11M in MM units . Don't recall Utah, BYU or TCU leaving behind such a financial gift. Also, pretty sure SDSU isn't the party who leaked the letter to the press.

Utah also left behind a bunch of credits when the MWC was formed, they had also recently played in the national championship game while in the WAC.

A few years together in the MWC doesn’t cut the mustard.  While I don’t think they will have any leverage in the B12, it won’t stop them from trying.

I don’t think you’ve experienced the full power of BYU delusion and entitlement.  But I’m not saying they are on Texas’ level, but they will definitely carve out their corner.

Post where any representative of SDSU mentioned disdain for the MWC? I'll wait.
