Yep. We are leaving the MWC with $11M in MM units. But, if the MWC wants to play hardball, they can. Not sure it is their best interest to do so.

I would think San Diego State would look to negotiate payout terms over time if they can’t get concessions on the amount owed.

Hardball is enforcing a contract SDSU agreed to?

It’s not unusual to bargain down on exit fees or terms. Cincy , Houston, and UCF all did. Can’t hurt to try, and Nevarez has even been quoted as expecting it.

I believe that’s exactly what they are doing.

Whatever happens with the buy out I think we can agree Boise deserves more of it than the rest of the schools.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Probably not lost on SDSU.  If the MWC gives the old FU and SDSU stays for another year because if it, I wonder if that sort of rigidity, mixed with the spite from the BE fallout, turns off any team even thinking about joining on a lateral like move.

If presidents of schools ever want to play SDSU again there should be some sort of negotiation on the exit terms.

this is bullshit too...

it's business and what happens now will have little or no bearing on what happens in the future

The Chargers leaving was the best thing to ever happen to SUDS.

That and the so-called Soccer City folks stupidly using Landon Donovan to run anti-SDSU commercials that pissed off about 200K SDSU alumni living within the city of SD as well as their voting-age family members.

SDSU worked very hard to situate itself for promotion to a power conference. However, the role of good fortune should never be forgotten as among other critical elements.

SCSD lit a fire under the ass of Aztec fans locally, that’s for sure.

Conference realignment is full of negotiations. Something will be negotiated. Those who think the MWC won’t negotiate haven’t paid very close attention to expansion.

The MWC needs to look after their own interests, not those of SDSU.

Based on my experience of business negotiation along with decades of realignment negotiations. It is highly unlikely that the MWC and SDSU won’t come to some agreement. But many of you around here haven’t been to the dentist in decades and still believe in Santa Claus So I don’t expect rationale thoughts from most of you.

Someone else pointed out how different the AAC clause was, 27 months for like $40 something million, the MWC’s is more reasonable. None of this shit has been tested in court, so I imagine the amount an exit fee could be bargained down is a reflection of how likely the conference feels the clause is actually enforceable. IIRC under the AAC’s old exit fee structure UConn paid almost the entire exit fee.

When San Diego State leaves they will need the MWC more than the MW will need them. We don't need to make any concessions

You haven’t heard?  robe is a millionaire. It’s just too bad that currency is in Iraqi Dinars.

The only business negotiations he does daily is ask his assistant mgr in the Walmart tire department if he can take his 15 minute break.
