No I got your point and agreed with it. I don't care who joins the military or what their pronouns are if they contribute to the ever increasing capabilities of American power and ability to project force.  

Our policy needs to change.  Until that happens it does not really matter.  We already have the ability to completely overwhelm any adversary in cyber warfare.  We just refuse to ever play offense and defense is MUCH harder.

Yes I agree Defense is harder.   But I don’t think that mitigates maintaining some standard.

My only question is why not shoot it down when it was over Alaska and the islands?  Other than that...not sure what else we could do?  If a single US citizen were to die or get seriously injured the outrage meter would be 11.  I'm hoping we send a bigger message than just Blinken cancelling his visit.  These guys (China) are such assholes.

Now this point I do not follow.  Can you expound?  

What I would like to see is the NSA, and our private corporations, be allowed to counter attack, and hard, after they detect likely CCP or Russian or whoever aggression.  Right now American policy is to ONLY play defense.  Biden had the chance to change that and sounded like he came very close to it after Russia invaded Ukraine.  IMHO we should have turned their entire nation dark for a few days.

I'm not white knighting Biden. From what I have read, it seems like the military was on top of it and a decision was made to take care of it at the proper time. The U.S. may have gotten more information out of it than we know. The incompetence part comes from people/media pushing this was just a balloon.

And practically...it played into our hands geopolitically.  It being such a huge story around the world was to our benefit.  That does not happen if we shoot it down over the Aleutian islands.  It sounds like CCP leadership is furious over how this blew up in their faces.  Good.
