I just find it funny that Mr anti teams and shit cites a report from a very teams and shit institute and is acting like it’s a mic drop because the report cites some studies. That’s all.

The studies cited are the studies cited.  Gone through peer review.  That's all.  The factual reporting of CATO is very high.  Period.

  • Overall, we rate the Cato Institute Right-Center Biased. While Cato’s economic and environmental positions are strongly right, they also hold liberal positions on immigration and social liberty issues. On the whole, this places them Right-Center as we weigh economic theory more heavily in the overall score. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing of information and recognizing the consensus of science.

Because the photos that were all over the internet showed people packed together like it was India.

That's right, photos that were manipulated by the media. A perfect example was when Yellowstone opened back up after the lockdowns and National Parks being shut down, the media was all over the photos of the South entrance North of Jackson. People were forced to use one entrance because idiots like the Democratic Montana Governor at the time shut down other main entrances to the park. What was the science on that? Once inside the park it wasn't crowded and the people that were there were spread out and social distancing. There was nothing open as far as food went or the hotels inside the park. I know because I was there and couldn't believe the BS the media was spewing and showing while playing politics. Pretty sure the people inside the park weren't all Republicans like the media tried to portray.

I will agree with some of the stupidity during events like spring break. Stuff like that was dumb.

What does that have to do with the conversation in this thread?

Besides your own idiocy, it's completely on-topic. We've had multiple pages going back and forth of people trying to parse small degrees of efficacy, ranting about government mandates, and this whole thing was started based on an editorial from some random med student. If you don't see how people would have the same issues if the polio vaccine came out today, you're not paying attention. Especially given the speed in roll-out of the vaccines.

I do it for the lulz.  Attention?  I get plenty whenever I bother to visit this place anymore lol.  Still the most liked poster of the year it looks like according to the stats.

I tag you because it makes me happy.  Like giving your dumb tiny cousin a wedgie before tossing him in the river.

Like I need to name drop you for "attention".  You know what a speed bag is?  Your mine.  Enjoy it

There are only two Anti Vaxers on this board.  Two.  Bob and the Rebels guy.  That's it.  That's the list.  Who are you talking to?  How do you go from a conversation discussing the scholarly articles on the efficacy of makes to "whelp polio vaccines".

You need to learn to MWCboard.  You suck at it.  Look at Happy.  Look at others.  What have you ever brought to any conversation other than a dumb one liner?  What original thought have you ever posted.

You are basic.  Just so basic.  You are the Ritz cracker of MWCboarders.  Boring.  Basic.  Yes anding.

Maybe go back to the bottle, since you can't seem to handle much more than that.

There's apparently more than the two anti-vaxxers, since this entire thread is populated by those trying to parse out percent of effectiveness of COVID mitigation, and ranting about non-existent mandates. Your inability to understand what I posted is not my problem, and just points to your own inane desire to seem like the smartest person on the board, when you seem to spend more time showing your ass.

Plus, if you were as intelligent as you claim to be, missing the correct usage of *you're wouldn't have happened.

Some of our fellow Board members posted pics from their local rec areas. Trails jammed, populat destinations, the lakes, vistas, etc were jammed up.

From the Environmental side it was a disaster as well with the overuse of trails and the accompanying garbage was off the hook.

People are gonna people.

The fact is, as has been stated by others, our Leadership, Media, and we as a Society responded to Covid selfishly and Politically.

That is what caused excess deaths. Not your nitpicking about the efficacy of cloth masks and being butt-hurt for life because Fauci lied.

Oh my god you are a walking talking breathing cliché.

Discussing peer reviewed papers on masks does not equal "covid mitigation "whatever the +++++ you think that means.

You are so dumb it is amazing...you can not even comprehend what you are reading or take part of an intellectual discussion.

We're standing on the precipice

Of prejudice and fear

We trust science just as long

As it tells us what we want to hear

We want our truths all fair and balanced,

As long as our notions lie within it

There's no sunlight in our asses

And our heads are stuck up in it

Drive by Truckers.   What it means.

Our government is not built to handle making wide-ranging social decisions in the immediacy of a disaster. The only time it is good at making snap decisions is in military engagement.

Decisions had to be made before the science was adequately developed, and as the government was clamoring for answers and data from the scientific community, it is no wonder that certain studies and scientists were given preference in the immediacy of the moment. Mis-info and dis-info played a big role in screwing this up too since we were being led by someone who believed and promoted the dis/mis-info.

I think the government +++++ed some things up. I think we should have known as soon as there was a pandemic called that the government was going to +++++ some things up. I do not believe there was malicious intent in the +++++ up nor do I believe there was political intent in the +++++ up. Government is not nimble in policy making. That is the bottom line issue imo. There are times this is good and times when it is tragically bad.

All of this will be studied and debated, and new but similar mistakes will be made the next time.

Not sure I've seen much that's more cringe-worthy than a guy bragging about his fake Internet board points to try to seem cool.

I know what you are saying and to where you are directing, and I don't disagree in general. But, there was malicious intent, or more specifically its equivalent, on the part of Trump and some others.  We have the Woodward tapes and transcripts, other info such as early U.S. Intelligence Reports to the Senate, and more.

On the local levels, we had the same in many ways.  Our lD quack doc, Ryan Cole, despite being hit w/charges by the WA State Med Board, is still at the anti-vax grift (and w/Malone has gone abroad). He's still on our local health board in SW Idaho.  He still gets support from local and state pols.  Ignorance and ego drives things, but there is a certain malevolence to it all.

Perhaps the worst thing to come out of all of this, in absence of the next and possibly worse pandemic, is the growing anti-vax culture.  We are still at very high rates for most key diseases in most places, but it's a dangerous thing for rates to drop for polio, measles, rotovirus, etc.

As to HHS, it needs to restructure the CDC or create a separate pandemic response agency/department(s).  We could have really used a a real time command and control center that had competency and trust.  I'm not sure how to get there from here (sadly).
