Nevada Convert
All the other prospective GOP candidates are pussing out to declare early because they don’t want to get the brunt of Trump criticism. Haley will add some sanity and moderation to the race which is badly needed. She has no fear of Trump, and could give a shit about anything he throws her way. She can be pretty damn feisty. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/haley-prepares-to-signal-presidential-run-in-video-as-gop-race-starts-slowly/ar-AA16Y3qe

He’s in a sharp mental decline, and his increasing insecurities can only be managed with constant adulation, adoration and respect. He’s getting very little of that these days, so that leaves a desperate little man that’s starving for it. Therefore, it’s a primary focus for him right now. So every person that declares isn’t good news to him tactically as it should be. Rather, it’s disrespectful and disloyal, because to him, they all owe him for whatever success they’ve had. There’s a big vacuum in his ego chamber, and he’s desperate to fill it. As for Haley, when she was governor of South Carolina, she got rid of the confederate flag. Trump would never do that in fear he’d alienate his southern right winger vote. Haley did it because it was the no-brainer right thing to do, and wherever the chips fell, they fell.

Trump hasn’t changed. He’s the same self-serving, thin-skinned, ego-driven narcissist he’s always been. Thankfully his act has grown tired enough for some that he’s a loser now, too, and nobody likes a loser. But if he starts winning again in the primaries, you’ll be back. Especially after Haley drops out next March. 3

Trump doesn’t have to be “calculating” to realize that more people running is good for him.

Yup, all he has to do is look at how he won in '16. He didnt start getting even 40% of the vote until the mid-March primaries, and by then he had won (or close to it).

Yet, he is the clear early favorite two years out and has been for the last two years. The base doesn't care about sanity or qualifications. This is about White Conservative Power and his ability to bring a nuke to a 19th century duel. 1 1

It happens countless times in sports and politics. You look at the final result at the end of a season or after an election, and the winner is many times a surprise from what was predicted at the beginning of the cycle. If you had made the end result as a prediction early on, people would be rolling their eyes. Every election is unique, the variables are all different. With some candidates, declaring early is a recipe for losing, especially one that’s never been thoroughly vetted. Someone like Haley that has been can take advantage of the publicity without other candidates using up oxygen in the room. It gives herself the opportunity to establish herself as a main candidate similar to how it is late in the process after most have dropped out. The MSM media hates both DeSantis and Trump. Haley will get very favorable coverage as she will be the strongest candidate to beat both of them.

Announcing early is desperation to secure donors and staff eyeing more likely nominees. The MSM as you call them giving glowing coverage is not a given nor even a good thing. Most of the Republican primary electorate feels much of the media is against them, and they’re right, which doesn’t necessarily help if they annoying you early. Jeb! Says hi. Trump announced early and it’s been a disaster. DeSantis doesn’t need to announce early, he’s already in the news all the time. The odds are any positive press that will help can be overshadowed as new campaigns are announced. Announcing early just gives you more time to become boring and hang yourself as Trump is finding out.

It doesn’t matter when Trump announces, it’s going to be a disaster regardless of when he does it because he is a disaster. Add to that, his announcement was so long and boring, half the place tried to leave early but security wouldn’t open the doors. I believe he’s made two more do-over announcements that nobody has covered except for maybe the crazy Newsmax or whatever. What does, boring as a rock, dead Jeb have to do with anything? Jeb’s problem was Jeb. Remember, in 2015-16, CNN created Trump’s candidacy. They covered every one of his stops live because they didn’t think he could win and it gave them big ratings. Now the MSM will do anything to prevent him from becoming the nominee. When the MSM saw Trump could actually win, they started propping up Kasich like he was a white Obama. But Kasich was just too boring, and didn’t do good press. His interviews were boring, he was terrible TV. Haley can be feisty and knows how to play that game. I actually completely agree with you in terms of when Trump announced was irrelevant. The MSM has been covering him non-stop for 8 years now, but it is supposedly super important that he announced in November 2022 instead of February 2023? Lol, yea ok.
GoDogs22
Nimrata won't have a chance in the election. Perhaps in 2016, but since then, she's gone into amorphous political blob mode, where she stands for nothing except what's politically expedient. So she's too MAGA for the moderates, and too moderate for the MAGAs.
