I think Martineau is the best recruit in their class so far. A really solid get.

Solid get. But if he ends up being the "gem" of the class that would be underwhelming.

Completely agree. If he's the fourth or fifth best recruit, they are probably okay (like Chase Martin last year).

If he's in the top 1 or 2, it means they put together a pretty average class.

shooting hoops with his bro, a T&F athlete at Miss. St.

Seemed like he loved his Michigan visit (where Idaho native Colston Loveland is at), and will take a visit to Boise State July 29th. Reported that he will make a decision in August.

I think he's the only QB they offered so good thing he committed.  Smart kid with a decent arm but hasn't started HS ball yet.  He's the starter this year so it will be interesting.

The film I've seen on him he's got good anticipation with his receivers.  He throws to spots really well already.   No cannon but pretty good arm that should get better as he matures.

#124 QB in class according to 247 and backup to a UC-Davis bound kid as a junior. Andy really underwhelming as a recruiter this year.

That's what I'm starting to get concerned about. I've been holding off because it's still early enough and there is plenty of the class to fill, but so far it's looking like this will be a middle of the conference class... and Boise has had, basically, the top class in the league for 20 straight years. It's been a loooong time since I've seen a class that most/many of the schools Boise is competing with are FCS level.

Another FCS level commit. Hopefully this staff is just really good at eyeballing talent, because this is shaping up to be one of the worst classes in quite a long time. Bohl has sent numerous underrecruited guys into the NFL, so maybe this is that kind of staff. If not, this roster is going to be in trouble in 3 or 4 years.

I’m okay with the local kid at DT. Good for the program to get local kids. He was 1st team all-conference at OL and DL. Just needs to add some weight.

I don’t really stress HS recruiting anymore with the portal the way it is. Build the base of the program with decent & dedicated players and then upgrade of fill gaps with transfers down the road.

I love the local kids. Mattock, LVE, Korey Hall, Paradis, were all under recruited local kids. I love them being mixed in. But, with the way this class is shaping up it's starting to get concerning. It's not over, but it's looking like a Gatlin Bair or bust class. Again, a lot of time left, but I wouldn't mind a couple of big time commits.

Sure. This is just a very un-Boise like class. We'll see how it turns out.

My thoughts on their recruiting.

Avalos definitely has a different philosophy than Harsin.

Harsin was able to secure some great players. However, it also seems like he got some bigger commits who were coming off an injury or had something that kept P5 schools from really prioritizing them.

Avalos is valuing a physical prototype at different positions, especially OL. What I've noticed is often they try to get in early on some great players (Misa, Loveland, Graham, Tiller, Houser, Jeanty, Bair), but don't always get them. But when they don't land their Plan A, they don't always seem to have a Plan B. So on paper, it looks like it's a Plan C or D type of recruit. Which is odd to me. Not sure what to gather from that.

On the other hand, there are some early indications that they are looking at players they know they can develop. Guys like Randolph and Casey on the line seem like great gets. Fely is supposedly primed for a breakout season, and Prince as well on the offensive end. So there also might be a method to what they are doing.

But like many of you, I'm wondering what they are doing. I'm interested to see how their recruits develop over the next year or two.

Just landed the highest rated recruit in their history and still only ranked 98th in recruiting. Normally, this type of a pick up can be used to recruit other prospects, but I wonder how well that will work when Gatlin won't be in campus until 2026.

Gatlin said he's gonna focus on players in the 2025 and 2026 classes to join him.

Going off of last year (which may not happen this year), quite a few players got a ratings bump in December after their senior seasons. I'd expect the QB and DL players to go up a few again, but who knows.

I'm also curious to see what new players they offer now that they aren't completely focused on Bair. They have a RB and LB who will be visiting in the fall, but will likely need to offer additional WRs and OL players to complete this class.
