No, I don't believe the USA should be banning nationals from buying real estate as a general rule.

Of course, there are exceptions.  Lots of them regarding national security but as a rule it's nuts.

Btw, the country that invests the most in US commercial real estate is phucking Canada.

And the top countries for residential real estate in the USA are Mexico and phucking Canada.

Yea but I still don’t understand why you added a racial component to it, hence why I thought it was satire.

As for the merits of the policy itself, I could not give less of a shit what Canada does with its housing market.

Is this satire of how somebody being overly “woke” would criticize a policy banning foreign nationals from buying real estate in a country? Because if so, I definitely did LOL, well done.

OK, so let's think this through.

Israel Herrera, legal US resident, Honduran citizen.  Also a chain immigration product, a policy which is often wrongly maligned.  He used to work for me.  Probably makes 130k a year (maybe more) installing doors and windows in LA.  You don't want him to be able to buy a house?

Or is it just Chinese you don't want to be able to buy a house?  Which kind of Chinese, Red China, or Taiwan too?

Trudeau continuously lectured Trump about immigration policy while overseeing and endorsing a policy that is 1000 times stricter than the US.  Then he proposes a xenophobic policy like banning foreign ownership of real estate, and you guys are good with that?

Unbelievable, seriously.

I do not give a shit about Canadian housing policy, not really sure how much clearer I can make that.

This is not good though. We need religion in society. Or else America will become a materialistic wasteland like Mainland China

Fact Check:

Too late. Even so called Christians or other Religious persons in America are highly materialistic.

Hence, the popularity of Prosperity Theology.

Apparently there are more single men out there in society when compared to recent years. Is this a bad thing and what effect will this have in the near future?

The society is now female dominated. More college graduates are women. Divorce still highly favors women. Marriage doesn’t provide males the benefits it once did.

Im bias I’ve grown up in a female dominated world. Sex is always given the woman a huge advantage in leverage. Just from my observations it’s usually a woman calling the shots in all relationships. The sooner you accept your fate the happier you will become.

I forced my will once on my wife. She lawyered up and cost me 35k in attorneys fees for the divorce. She then decided I could remarry her when the divorce was finalized.  I’ve been a subservient spouse ever since.

I’m envious of single and gay men. I can only imagine how happy they must be. Lesbian relationships, Well let me just say this there is a reason lesbian are mean nasty people. Gay men are extremely pleasant and happy people.

This is a little off the wall but stay with me.

Anyone else have hires over the pandemic that they didn't meet in person until some time later? My firm did, and we noticed how even though we work together and see people on video meeting platforms regularly it's still really awkward when you meet the first time. Maybe even more so because you've only met the talking head online presentation of them. But now you meet them in person and its even more awkward even though you actually interact with them regularly...what if this is what young people are going through?

The first fully online gens who didn't transition to online life later on, but were born into. And when they meet in person they feel extra awkward because real life is unlike online interactions? Just a thought...if this is the case as they get older I have a feeling it will correct itself. But it may be too late to correct the impact on birth rates.

You bastards aren’t breeding and are going to destroy my Social Security I’ve worked years for. Its not the Democrats or the Republicans fault it all the awkward single men who can’t and won’t make a move on a beautiful big breasted woman.

That's a pretty extreme step.

There are a number of countries that have similar laws. Mexico (though I believe they're relaxed that a bit in recent years), Switzerland, Australia, Vietnam, Greece, Thailand, Croatia, Turkey, South Korea....they all prohibit or limit who can buy property in their countries (and where).

Yea if there are exceptions for people that are legal residents of a country I don’t see why barring foreign nationals from buying real estate should be considered an extreme or even controversial policy. If you live in the country, you can buy real estate, if you don’t, you can’t.

The big issue with that sort of policy, IMO, is that non-resident foreign nationals/companies probably own such a relatively small percentage of total real estate that it wouldn’t really help with the problem of housing affordability.

But, this sort of law would never pass in the U.S., so why get worked up about it? Pearl clutching for the sake of Pearl clutching.

The reason it wouldn’t pass is the pearl clutching. Some people need to be reminded from time to time how open and welcoming the United States is compared to everywhere.

You can only buy property in Mexico in special zones if you aren't Mexican. In China you have to have worked their or lived their for at least a year. IOW, these countries require a commitment and apply limitations. IMO USA/Canada having more valuable real estate and with housing issues they need to address these asymmetric situations in ways we may not always like but tend to make sense IMO.
