Trump recently stated the GOP needs to soften their views on abortion.

There are a number of Republicans who have, are, or will move away fro the far extremes of no exceptions and some other things.  There are other issues to move on.

Those for whom the status quo is working well tend to resist change.   Perhaps they aren't conservative because the "American Dream" isn't working out as promised like it did for other generations.

Pretty funny that he campaigned on overturning ROE v Wade and appointing pro life judges. Gets elected, appoints pro life judges, gets RvW overturned, takes credit for it happening, then says GOP shouldn't go so hard on abortion and blames it for their loses but he has nothing to do with it.

I mean... people's politics depend on context, right? People throughout time generally want roughly the same things, to be comfortable, secure, left alone, and to not have to see "those people". The challenges that millennials are facing as we are coming into our 40s are almost the opposite of the challenges that especially boomers and silent generationists faced.

We're looking at a hot labor market (for low paying service jobs), a two-tiered economy, union-busting monopolistic mega corporations, exploding cost of living, and an overall lack of social services. "Those people" have dwindled greatly in most millennials eyes.

That was... not the case for prior generations. Boomers and silents had just had the New Deal. Corporate taxes were high, income taxes were high, housing was cheap, medical care was cheap, retirement saving was cheap, education was cheap.  decent paying jobs were available in towns and suburbs instead of in just the largest two cities of each state. The pool of "those people" for these generations are far larger than for millennials and include foreigners, young people of color, people who dress casually, visibly non-cis people.... not all boomers and silents of course and not all millennials are tolerant, but there's a measurable gap in attitudes between the two.

So.... millennials want leftist politics to solve their problems that they perceive neoliberalism caused. Boomers and silents wanted a police state (and to be fair to them they did live through a horrific crime wave.... how much that had to do with lack of environmental regulation and redlining is another story lol) and tax cuts to solve the problems they perceived democratic socialism caused.

What,  you don't think looking at undertaking you kids student loans while still paying off your own makes you pine to keep the status quo?😄

Were they the victims of the crime waves or the cause?  Funny how all those hypocrites found Jesus,  no?
