Yeah. I’m not going to argue the results. It just seems like the type of thing that can be exploited by the right team. Particularly in conference play. Guess we’ll see what happens. 

As an aside. Luis Rodriguez looked pretty good from what I saw today. Especially considering he was kind of painted as someone who couldn’t score. Hopefully he keeps it up for UNLV.

I left after the Rodriguez explosion made it up 14 with 6 to go. I've been a huge Rodriguez fan all year, he brings the energy and plays all out at both ends.

Would have liked to see the San Diego offense efficiency but I knew that wasn't sustainable. A little selfish play tonight ie. Some 1 on 1 and not making the extra pass that I'd like to see cut down. Overall can't be disappointed by the score tho. 9-0 and fantastic start to a season that's better than any of us expected!

Cheapest tickets to the Las Vegas clash in the upper level corner are $55 bucks?! Hard pass on that, I'll watch Saturday's game at home...

Guys and gal, I learned a hard truth tonight. 5k fans is not the problem. It was really fun in there. The size and outdatedness of the t&m is the problem.

Although they righted the ship, this was the first time I saw this team take it easy and not play hard. Hope Kevin runs them until they puke tomorrow.

If I were going to be in town, I would probably do that, I do like those double headers..and this is at the MGM, right? IIRC they're all good seats in there?

I don't think they gave up that many wide opens ones vs San Diego. They played a ton of 2-3 in that one. 

Against most teams they've elected to give up open ones to cut off lanes to the basket. 

But I do believe they can cut off the 3pt line when that's their focus.

Some of us have advocated for a new arena on campus more suited for UNLV basketball. @RebelRobert

2nd game vs a P5 team........should be a good test for UNLV -- Lower end Pac teams shouldn't be that tough for UNLV ........but this UNLV team is a work in progress.

Back in the day, I wouldn't have worried about a PAC team like WSU ........those were the days !!

The massive capacity of the T&M is the new problem...........that was as much for a top 10 UNLV BB program as it was a marketing tool for the LVCVA to lure events like the NFR.

Before the T&M UNLV played in the Convention Center Rotunda which was a bowl type arena that seated around 6300 -6600 & sold out like 70-90 straight games once Tark got the program up & (literally) running in 1973/74.

I saw a game or two in the old CC - Hard ticket to get and the LV area was around 400,000

Even in the first couple of years of the Dave Rice era, we were averaging 15-16,000, were we not? And it was fun in there. I'd rather start winning again to the point it brings fans back (and it will bring fans back).

And what would do with the T&M? And NFR?

I went to a lot of games in both, sometimes right down on Gucci Row, lol, the convention center was certainly fun, and at the time we thought it was big. But once the T&M was built, it was insanity. That place was wild in those first 10 years, with 20,000 fans packed in. Yes, I know, we are never expected to get those fans back, cause pro sports, but before we tear down the T&M for a 8000 seat arena, I'd like to see what happens if and when we start winning again. The fans didn't go away because of pro sports, they left because the basketball was pathetic.

Totally agreed. T&M is iconic, a great arena even with 12-14k which we could easily get back with a good team.

Yes it was fun last time we were good and it was filled.

But...

There's more to it than just getting the right amount of fans. T mobile and dlc have modern configurations, sound, amenities, concessions, etc. 

Really hope Eric Harper stayed for a while and paid attention. The in game announcing and entertainment has been embarrassing at the mack this year. That dj and drummer are so awkward. 

The t and m is stale. Need a fresh approach imo. 

The hospitality is hilarious. Everyone cattle into the room and grab styrofoam bowls of Chex mix.

I had fried pickles at the dlc and got to eat them at the counter that wraps around the whole concourse overlooking the floor.  

I understand the t&m is here to stay, but we need to really rethink how to best use it.

I wouldn't argue with that, at all. Update it, but don't tear it down for a smaller arena. Just get the coach that will win and get the fans back and you can afford the remodel. (And no, I'm not calling for KK to be fired, lol)

Oh, and get the dang fountain drinks back. Bottled diet pepsi?? NO WAY!! I gotta tell Harper.

I don't drink soda at home, so I always looked forward to a large Pepsi with a lot of ice at the games. It's so disappointing with the plastic bottles now...

It's pathetic, and screams cheap. Once I asked the lady why (I already knew it was the bean counters, lol), and she said covid changed things, lol. I guess just for this year, and just for basketball, not football, lol.

And we need better food in there.
