CONTRACTION not expansion is the way forward.
CUSA is reeling from adding too many teams.
The Sun Belt just contracted and downsized to 10 football teams (with a conference championship game).
It's clear that the California Schools dislike Wyoming for some odd reason. They act like traveling to Laramie is akin to traveling to Russia. That, and the Front Rangers controlling Hair Thompson. So CONTRACTION is the way forward. Schools will have more basketball and football success in a smaller conference.
PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE (each team has a rival) (7-game conference schedule, 5 games OOC)
1--UNLV
2--NEVADA
3--SDSU
4--HAWAII
5--SJSU
6--FRESNO
7--BOISE
8--USU
MOUNTAIN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE (each team has a rival) (7-game conference schedule, 5 games OOC)
1--WYOMING
2--CSU
3--AFA
4--UNM
5--NMSU
6--UTEP
7--TEXAS ST
8--UTSA
Of course, with only a 7-game conference schedule, teams from the 2 conferences would still have room to schedule each other----if they wanted to. This would cut down on costs.
Both conferences would be smaller, and save money. A smaller conference means more teams get the chance to win. Bigger conferences only make sense in the P5, where the view is that the conference schedule is very difficult. That same respect is not give to the G5.
