Aren't you guys kind of used to this about once a year though?  Seems like this is once a year the past 5 seasons or so.

Yep, a WTF game is a now a regular feature under the Harsin era. Sadly, it does not sting as much as it did in 2014 vs AFA.

Mangum sucks. Strong arm, and when he has great receivers, good things happen. But his accuracy blows. That pick-6 was a horrible throw.

His throwing motion is not good at all. He shot-puts the ball so it has a low launch point.  He had good raw talent but has not been developed properly.  I actually feel bad for the guy.

The MWC definitely sucks this year. Which is good for UCF, since their schedule is really weak. If they drop a game, they should plummet in the rankings.

The MWC is not deviating much from its new history since 2014, and the CFP era. So far the MWC is actually stronger so far this year than how it finished last year. The problem for the MWC are the dregs, who simply suck butt. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lTe233mW8GTcFNqIjaddXl1BdIRVGzwB/view?usp=sharing

Kansas: Is as good as gone to the B1G once the B12's GOR expires.

OU: Is supposedly as disgusted with UT as Nebraska and A&M were so unless that changes, is probably gone to the SEC or maybe the B1G or even the Pac.

Okie State: If the state legislature made taking the Cowboys a requirement to get OU, the B1G would say no thanks but the Pac would say yes and the SEC maybe.

WVU: Although unlikely, there's an outside chance of an offer from the ACC or the SEC.

Conclusion: Contrary to what some think, IMO you're spot on in saying UT ain't goin' no place. However, the B12 is certain to lose at least 1 and will likely lose 2-3 members from a conference of just 10. Could the conference carry on with just 9? Sure but no way it wouldn't add other members if it goes down to just 8 and the 2 losses are OU and KU which would likely be the case. As I've said for months, I think if OU stays put, things will just settle down for a long time. However, if OU leaves, some dominoes are certain to fall.

OU and OSU are not bound by legal ties.  You can read about that below.

Bragging about 2018 recruiting right now is like a freshman bragging about his physical endowment before his first gym class  and first shower room welcome to reality. Let's just say he rightfully earned the namec"shorty." Proof is in the pudding. Prove it on the field- what's the bowl record?

There are always going to be anomalies but for the most part the current recruiting ratings reflect a rough sketch of how the distribution will settle in.

That being said.... WHAT HAS CHANGED SINCE 2014?

A Hell of a lot, imo.

I believe that's when the American welcomed Navy aboard and the other call-ups.Programs going to other conferences, like Louisville, have also transformed into better programs.

Those teams have invested more since 2014 than they have in their athletics histories.

The MWC may be performing like it always has.

But the landscape has been changing around the conference while the MWC programs have comfortably sat on their collective bums.

It's too late to do anything about it now. A stigma has overtaken the conference brand. The MWC REALLY needs to spend but the revenue isn't there to power such a reaction. It doesn't appear that anyone wants to fund a better MWC. The returns that they'd get are minimal because the conference reputation has eroded.

    Yawn.

    Just sayin..

Willie Fritz has a better class than Harsin at this point. It's not out of the question that Tulane finishes with the higher ranked class.

I like what Boise accomplished once upon a time but the "cyclical" argument is more germane to individual programs than it is to conferences.

Do you think conference affiliation is having any influence on Kazmeir Allen's decision to look around?

The NLI is months away, and nothing is won in the first week of August. Up to this point Vanderbilt has a better class than Alabama, should Bama be concerned?  Should Saban be wringing his hands in worry and doubt? FFS

Allen got offered by Cal, which he himself described as his "dream school." Many athletes decommit from a school once their preferred choice becomes available. This isn't uncommon.  Additionally, considering Cal has been flaming dog shit for most of this decade means Allen is likely more concerned with the school itself rather than the conference.

"once upon a time" as if 2014 was long, long ago.  Jesus H Christ.

Yes, BUT it can also go the other way, and get even worse..

Didn't Kazmeir Allen just decommit from Boise?

You guys had been on him for a long time. Is Harsin just not connecting?

For the extra revenue Boise gets, he better be.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tulane's Willie Fritz outperforms Boise's Harsin. It looks like he's already doing it on the recruiting trail.

Hell, Harsin isn't even the best college coach in Idaho.

If the conference is going to spend heavy on Boise, these are important things to notice

Aww is that the best you can do?

Kazmeir Allen did decommit, and in return, we got to RBs in Andrew Van Buren and Zidane Thomas. I like 2 for 1 trades.  What else you got big guy?

Do you really believe a significant number of MWC teams will leapfrog AAC teams??

To put this into perspective... Boise State has a HUGE lead over most MWC schools and they don't get higher than 12th on the AAC list!

So, what needs to happen is there needs to be a steady flow of 3-4 star commits, and that spigot needs to be on blast..

Meanwhile the AAC will continue recruiting too.

Boise may make a modest jump but you're really overestimating how much work can be done to bridge the Grand Canyon.

As of today, 6 AUG, the average AAC team on has, on average, 17.3 commits versus 6.3 for the MWC teams. Gotta do better FF
