  1. At least this year we get 4 days to prepare for UCONN versus a day. It is why you tend to see more upsets on Thursday and Friday than Saturday and Sunday in MM. I am not worried about our D, but we need to shoot well and Ledee has to stay on the floor for any chance to win. Here is hoping we make it game and keep the run going.
  2. If we want better seeds we need to prove it when it counts. The MW needs to go out and kick ass in the tourney and make a statement. As long as their is a committee and not computers making the decision a league's reputation will be based on what they do in March. Until last year no team as a member of the MWC, had made it past the Sweet 16. This year I hope we have multiple teams in the S16, and at least one makes a deep run.
  3. It should be a good game today. I think it will come down to which team can stop dribble penetration and control the boards.
  4. The PACWEST name is taken it is D2 conference. They could always go back to the PCC days.
  5. Hoping Coach Tedford recovers quickly and can resume his duties. He is a good coach.
  6. Hands Down, Augie Garrido is my all-time favorite rant! Never gets old.
  7. This team does not have the rim protector like Nathan Mensah, so its defense is going to come from pressuring the ball and getting in passing lanes more. IMO, Dutch is trying to play at a faster rate and more uptempo to get out in transition, and why we are pressuring the ball more. We did struggle against 1-2-2 press and 1-3-1 zone last night. Our spacing was horrible against the zones and it forced to us play into their traps and caused TO's. The issues we have are fixable as the season progresses
  8. Colonel Klinkoff.. is being paid to stay away until his contract runs out.
  9. IMO, football needs to break away and do its own thing. Then keep all the other sports in a regional conferences, the sooner this happens the better college sports will be.
  10. If we tackle like we did last week. This is gonna get ugly early as the Flyboys will roll. Hoping the Aztecs can adjust this week, but not expecting them to do so.
  11. My bet is the PAC12 network will be the production arm for Apple as part of the deal. PAC12N already has the infrastructure for production in place to produce all their content. Apple then can farm specific games to a linear network for additional exposure. The only exception would be if ESPN or FOX picks up a weekly game they might have their own production crew.
  12. It is my understanding of the law is that CA Public schools cannot use public funds to travel to states on the no travel list. It does not preclude schools from playing in those states, but the funds have to come from privately raised funds not public funds.
  13. When Utah came to the pac12. They took less for two years. I expect ours to be similar. "As part of its membership agreement in moving from the Mountain West Conference, Utah won't receive a full share immediately. It'll be gradual — 50 percent in 2012-13, 75 percent in 2013-14 and 100 percent each year thereafter. "
  14. It doesn't bother me I am enjoying it, i just find it ironic.
  15. Is it me, but I am enjoying the irony of a Utah and UCF fan battling it out on the MWC board.
  16. IMO, the B1G's next move is ND and will always be ND. Once ND finally says OK were coming to the B1G, the will grab one more western school likely either Oregon or Stanford and stop at 18 for awhile. They will save any other expansion spots for when the ACC gets split up to go after UNC and UVA first. All the other PAC schools will always be there whether they are in the PAC, B12 or some form of a merged conference between the two. There is no need to add them now. The PAC's immediate future is in the AZ school's hands. If they are willing to stay and not jump to the New B12 while UW and UO await for B1G invites that may or may not come, the PAC can stabilize and look to add schools, as I think UU and CO also stay. If the AZ schools leave then I think all hands are on deck to get off the sinking PAC ship and find a home elsewhere.
  17. The best high school players want to go to where the best players are playing. The top level QBs and skill position players are not staying on the West Coast anymore like they used too. They are going to SEC and B10 teams for exposure. If Lincoln Riley can get USC rolling again, and I think he will. The west coast talent will start to stay home more, it becomes a trickle down effect as players want to go where the best players are playing.
  18. SDSU put a 5 year plan in place in 2020 to reach R1 status by 2025. The are currently on pace to reach that goal.
  19. IMO The BIG 12 has the leverage in the exit of OUT. If OUT wants to leave early they will have to pay up.
  20. I hope Schaeffer becomes the new voice of SDSU when Leitner retires as the lead PBP. He does great job promoting the Aztecs.
  21. SDSU is limited in issuing PHD's. Every PHD they issue has to be in conjuction with another University. When CA set up the two tier systems between the UC's and CSU's, it granted UC's the power to do research and issue PHD's and the Cal States could not, which is why the Cal States do not have Medical schools or Laws schools.
  22. The MW will be the 6th best league if everyone stays. The one team i could see leaving the MW is AF. AF could go football only and move their Olympics the the Summit, Big Sky, MVC or WCC. It would make Navy a conference game and allow them to recruit TX more. We will see.
  23. We won't know any actual voting data until after the polls close at 8pm. Most people think it will be close for Measure G to pass. The Measure E backers who have a competing initiative for the SDCCU site have heavily campaigned against Measure G. The Measure E polling data is low and that group's best chance at this point is if both measures fail. If both fail the city will start over again with an RFP process, and we go down this road again. We are hoping that city of San Diego residents see this tactic and Vote no on E and Yes on G, so the University can grow and prosper.
  24. Here is quick synopsis of both plans. Both plans call for a new smaller sized stadium, but the rift is who gets to control the development, and revenue streams along with how the surrounding space to the stadium is used. Measure E: SoccerCity The goal: La Jolla-based FS Investors wants to redevelop the Qualcomm Stadium property. Its plan emerged amid concerns about the Chargers’ departure. FS Investors is asking voters to force the city to lease the land — along with the Murphy Canyon site of the former Chargers headquarters — to it so it can build an urban district centered on a Major League Soccer expansion team. It’d demolish the current stadium and replace it with a smaller one plus build thousands of homes, retail space and 450 hotel rooms. The group has also committed to provide $20 million to $40 million for a 60-acre river park, although the park that San Diego River Foundation has long wanted isn’t guaranteed by this initiative. Measure G: SDSU West The goal: The SDSU West plan would require the city to sell much of the Mission Valley property to San Diego State, meaning the land would remain public and be owned by the state. SDSU has itself produced a plan for what it would do with the land, should it get control of it but the university is not allowed to take a position on Measure G. SDSU has not agreed on a sales price. The measure also says the university would be required to cause to be developed a riverpark should the measure pass. SDSU’s plan for Mission Valley involves replacing the stadium formerly known as Qualcomm with a 35,000-seat stadium. And then, after a series of environmental reviews and campus planning, it would build some amount of student housing, academic buildings, a river park, offices, retail, a hotel and housing. As with the SoccerCity initiative, the city attorney said park plans aren’t guaranteed.
  25. I expect the Soccer City folks to go crazy with ad blitzes all over these last 3 weeks. The SDSU West group needs to be ready and counter it to keep their momentum.
