  1. lol. Ok. I wish we were still living in those times...
  2. As you astutely point out, SMU, Temple, Cincinnati, Wichita State, and UConn, are 5 teams right there that will be in the mix every year... as well as UCF, Tulsa, and Houston (this year)... Memphis will join that group soon under Tubby Smith.
  3. The AAC has never been a lone bid conference. Hell, it has a recent Natty. The M_C's and the like were who the MVC coach was referring to.
  4. Just sayin.. There is strength in numbers. The days of mid-majors getting multiple bids is over. Some interesting quotes from a MVC coach: http://thesouthern.com/sports/college/salukimania/hinson-more-interested-in-preparation-than-basketball-metrics/article_6826f2ba-ee3e-585c-a358-b4663a297d98.html "We won't get one at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. You ask anybody. There will be zero at-large bids (for mid-majors)," Hinson said. "In order to go to the postseason, you're going to have to win the Valley tournament. The ways of getting an at-large bid are over. If Wichita State hadn't won the Valley tournament they would have been out. That's crazy." So he's given up on trying ...
  5. The best point I've seen in this thread. It'll be interesting to see how the early signing date impacts defections across the board.
  6. ALL the M_C's should take part in these challenges.. MVC, MAC, MWC... You are all similar in your deficiencies.. You are the Misfit Conferences. You recruit misfits. You are misfits.
  7. That's the thing with you M_C's.. You aren't consistently beating anyone. Somehow you think a small handful of exhibitions somehow erases your ineptitude over the course of the last few seasons. Just by sheer volume alone that is absurd. The M_C's really are the Misfits. Misfit West Conference, Misfit Valley Conference, Misfit American Conference, etc. So, (getting back to the subject of this thread), lets all wait to see which players don't get those offers they are obviously holding out hope for and give the M_C's some love. God knows you need it. That's not to say you aren't appreciated. Thank you for the reps. Raise your RPIs, Raise your Massey ratings, Start getting players drafted high... Then lets revisit your M_C status.
  8. I love me some M_C. It's good to get those extra reps.
  9. When you play M_C type conferences, it's going to be with a lower ranked squad versus their standard bearer. Every time. Usually those lower ranked squads have issues, whether its been a brutal season (like in Navy's case) and they're on their 3rd -4th QB, or perhaps their coaching staff was poached. It's not a garbage excuse. It's an exhibition game that is worth playing just to get the extra reps. I have no problem with them or the results. To pretend they are a statement of equality ignores why those two programs were matched in the first place. It's your reward to play any AAC squad. Even when its AAC6 versus MWC1.
  10. Believe me, I understand the psychology behind putting your head in the sand.. But when your standard bearer would only place 12th.. that's a collective disaster.. at any time of year. And its not just recruiting champs... Check RPI, Massey, take your pick.. TRIANGULATE. I think you underestimate the disastrous consequences of trading programs like BYU for Utah state. You don't recover from that. MWC, MVC, MAC.. Take your pick
  11. Island of Misfit Toys... Which is apropos in this recruiting discussion... It sounds like all these unaccounted-for "future commits" will be a misfit toy that didn't get the bigger offer they were waiting for.
  12. LOL.. I still think your President was right when he didn't turn on Benson and fought for the WAC's raid of the MWC. He saw the turd that was forming... All we're reading from MWC fans here is the flatulence from said turd.
  13. Trust me, I empathize with why you want to make this your Little Bighorn...
  14. You have it all wrong... The perception going into those games is the superior conference is sending its weaker teams to play the champions of those leagues. The AAC is literally throwing them a bone by participating. That perception does not get changed regardless of what happens. Otherwise, we'd see any of those other conferences sending their under-performing teams to play AAC teams... and that just wont happen.
  15. Seriously though, I don't enjoy having to spell this out for you. I know its a shot in the nads but you should be able to figure these things out and not blow them so far out of proportion to support your diminished status in the game of football.
  16. My 'argument' is that Aresco threw the Champions of the G4 a bone by getting to play low priority AAC squads. These games weren't 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, and so on.. He did you guys a favor. How many times have you played yourself in a bowl? These exhibition games are a necessary evil because there are just too many of them. I appreciate that you were there to give our lower level squads the reps.
  17. Honestly, I don't blame you for hanging your hat on that post.. You totally want to separate context from the results and I don't blame you for that either.. lol But that still doesn't alter reality. lol. You're in fantasy land buddy. You want to equate the LV bowl to the Houston team that beat OU and Louisville. They had checked out by then due to losing their coach. Perhaps if they would have gotten an opponent they respected they would have bothered to show up. Everyone but MWC fans understood the deal. Just like they understood going in that Tuberville's Bearcats were just being sent to Hawaii on vacation to play the MWC Champ. They were #6 in the conference and simply had to take one for the team. They didn't rate a better opponent, and they were playing for a coach that was not long for the profession.
  18. That's the thing... Aresco has had no issue with providing the G4 Champions with a low ranked AAC opponent (when a power team isn't available) It's a feel good game for you guys. I'm not bothered by it either.
  19. People really only care about the games against the other P6. The wins over Florida State and Baylor when they were Big 12 Champions draw the eyes. The opponents you're hanging your hat on were lower on the totem pole... like when the MWC Champion beat the AAC #6. Whatever floats your boat man. Cinci got a trip to Hawaii out of that deal.
  20. I think more people are bothered by recruiting than G5 bowl games mate. It's blue light special time for the MWC. I'm sure they'll find players but they're really going to need to look at the tags on the merchandise to see if it contains an orange, blue, or purple dot. The 2018 store has already been picked over pretty good and you'll need to decide whether you want the dual QB that has no arm strength or the Pro-Style guy who has no pocket presence. Of course your decisions now are all subject to what is left.
  21. The issue here is that the MWC is settling in as a Western MAC equivalent. You have the same caliber of recruits... and the perceived desirability of scholarship offer is basically the same, which is why you rely on late commits.
