  1. Desperation, I'd imagine it's just a contingency plan if they aren't able to get UNLV, Texas State or anyone else to join.
  2. I understand, but a reverse merger is a different situation than changing leagues.
  3. The pacnw is not a college sports desert. Oregon and Washington combined have about half of Florida's population. Yet those two states have produced three CFB playoff appearances, and two national title appearances in the CFP era. The entire state of Florida only has one appearance in the playoff in the same time frame when Florida State lost 20-59 to Oregon.
  4. Does anyone know how a reverse merger would work legally? Would the new league get both sets of credits, or just the Pac-12 credits?
  5. If the Summit were to add the Utah trio, I wonder if they'd have any interest in breaking from the MVFC and starting football? Initially it would be the Dakota 4 + SUU/Utah Tech. Perhaps Northern Colorado would be interested as well?
  6. The WAC may be in serious danger of surviving once again. Tarleton, UT-Arlington, Stephen F Austin, and Abilene Christian are now trying to get back into the Southland. https://www.americanpress.com/2024/05/14/slc-open-to-taking-back-sfa-others-might-follow/ If so that would leave the WAC with only Cal Baptist, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, and Utah Valley. Hard to imagine them surviving but we've thought this before.
  7. I was just thinking about this. I sure hope the Big 12 or Big Ten gets the tie-in to the LA Bowl.
  8. Exactly, SDSU is in the bottom half of the conference in academic metrics that matter for realignment.
  9. Even if the top schools are poached from the ACC, the conference will still survive, and CalFurd would still prefer that to anything out west. If anything it might be more attractive to them since the ACC would lose their academic weak links such as FSU and Clemson. I also highly doubt the ACC would backfill with OSU/WSU, but it’s possible. More likely they’d go for South Florida, Memphis, Tulane, etc. They already chose SMU over OSU/WSU.
  10. I get that, but are those matchups any less interesting than USC or Oregon vs Washington State/Arizona/Colorado/Oregon State?
  11. I disagree, I don't watch much football outside of the MW, but a lot of the new Big Ten matchups will be fun. Yearly matchups with Oregon/USC/UCLA/Washington against OSU/Michigan/Penn State will be really interesting.
  12. Do you have a link? I don't recall her saying this.
  13. It would be nice to have Hawaii as a full member, but if we’re adding OSU and WSU, I’d prefer Gonzaga to come along with them. If that’s not an option than Hawaii should join.
  14. IMO UCD still has the most potential of the non P5 UC’s. Obviously fielding a football team is a big part of that, but Sacramento is a good sports town that UCD could tap into. I’d love to see both them and Sac State in FBS someday.
