  1. Women’s higher seeds host (GU hosting at McCarthy in Spokane) . Mens tournament was bid by the University of Idaho (hosting at the Spokane Arena). There was also a regional HS Volleyball tournament being held at The Podium (right across the street from Arena) and soccer events at downtown stadium. Spokane has the hotels, just bet Utah got better rates in Couer d’Alene and is less “homely” than Spokane. Doesn’t surprise me about the racist yelling. I live in Spokane and run a decent amount and have people yell “fagg0t!!” at me like once or twice a year. Or something similar just for running on the sidewalk. A small percent of people in this region are deplorable. But also very vocal. And some very vocal youtube/radio personalities among the alt-right are trying to bring back the racist garbage to North Idaho. It’s a problem.
  2. Religious schools and a handful of elite colleges like Stanford and Oregon and a couple in the SEC. It’s uncommon. BSU could but would require investment from outside in form of NIL deals. Average team has 39 athletes but only 12.9 scholarships (for men). Women’s team has 18 scholarships. Easier to go all-in on distance and XC (2 for 1) out West where sprinters and throwers are few and far between but distance running is common.
  3. Indy Nattys: Wrestling - 2 Skiing - 1 T&F - 10 Of those 10 T&F, Imhels coached 4. Emma Bates (10000m) and Allie Ostrander (steeple x2), Schofield (800m). Best of any head coach in any individual sport in BSU history. Ed Jacoby only coached 2 in 23 years! And one was his son.
  4. I disagree with your take. I think Boise needs to be a top 25 XC team (which they have been with Imhels at times). Nobody cares about track & field and like others have said, can’t compete with the limited number of scholarships available. However have seen rumors of awful behavior by Imhels including allegations of Title 9 coverups.
  5. Went for a run on the Centennial Trail in Spokane yesterday and tons of fans were out. Surprised how many pasty white skinny Yale fans made the trip. The white Y on their shirts very similar to the Borg Y.
  6. Idaho is the Yale of the West.
  7. My favorite was right when he came in off the bench after sitting for ten minutes. Ran a set where about 8 screens were set trying to get him open, only for him to launch a 30-footer in traffic.
  8. He would have been MW POY if he hadn’t gotten the shoulder injury. Was supposed to get career-ending surgery before season but decided to tough it out. Shot 40+% from three in D2 before. Now he’s a passer/inside guy.
  9. And about half second slower in the 40. Omar’s gotten some good looks. Missed a few easy ones.
  10. Heartbreak. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap/_/gameId/400785474
