I never developed the taste for it.  The only reason I even mentioned it is I used to work at a pizza place and had people order an extra large pizza with double pepperoni and double sausage with extra cheese with some sort of fattening appetizer but would then order a Diet Coke with it.

Image result for just for the taste of it diet coke 2014

Coke Zero tastes a hell of a lot better than Diet Coke.

Coke Zero tastes more like Coke than Diet Coke but DC is kind of its own animal. A lot of people, like myself, kind of got used to it and now prefer it sometimes. Diet coke with a lemon slice can be quite nice.

While that is by and large nonsense, It still does not support the idea.  Idaho has low crime, better health care, world class outdoor recreational activities anybody can afford, is very clean, wait, pristine might be a better word, state.

The idea that people in Uzbekistan have a higher quality of life is the most retarded thing I have ever heard.  They have a terrible human rights record, are highly oppressive.  You think a Uzbekistani woman could hike for a week with her breasts out along a world class trout stream smelling wild flours?

That is absolutely not what I meant to argue. I do not believe Iraq or Uzbekistan have higher life qualities than Nevada or Idaho

I'm not sure we're on the same page and since multiple good people seem to have the same response to my post I will take the blame.

I'm not even sure what the OP means anymore but what I wanted to express is that quality of life and happiness is probably a better measurement of a state or country's success in my book than GDP.

The pursuit of happiness and all that.

  4. I don't know where all the moving parts will land exactly, but I'd bet my house that there will be a very bigly significant bowl game in that stadium. Much bigger than Colorado State/Utah or some other old regular Las Vegas Bowl type matchup. Big name schools.

Sure they will, and right away. I guarantee a family attending 3-5 UNLV games a year will dial it back to afford 1-3 Raiders games. Now, if they decide, after attending the NFL games that it isn't worth it, then some will likely return to Rebels games. People will always hurry to try the next new thing...

I could see that happening, but I could also see a few more people heading out to a Rebel game to hang out at the new stadium for a few less bucks.

Which is my point. Rebel Football can't compete with Raider Football.

The nature of the population is exactly one of UNLV's biggest problems. Too few college alumni, too little value for education...

My point is that Raider fb and UNLV fb will not compete for the same buyers. Not at first anyway.

Bingo. Going from your own stadium with a sh-t location and outdated facilities to renting one that's oversized and incumbent on the good will of someone notoriously short of it could be viewed as one step forward and one and a half back. That and now having to compete for the football fans' dollars...

I don't believe the Raider and Rebels will compete for much, not unless UNLV gets in a power conference and is perceived as "big time".

Being in a lesser conference hurts UNLV as much as or more than anything.  I'm not saying UNLV deserves to be in a P5 conference, but due to the nature of the population, few here are interested in smaller conference sports and regional rivalries. You spent a lot of time here and I'm sure you have a sense of that.

I will leave you with something we agree on though. This looks like the last stand for UNLV football.  It's sink or swim time.

    Still beats what they had.

The raiders won't hurt Rebel FB. It remains to be seen if the new stadium helps for more than a season.  Either way, the Rebs have to put a better product on the field.

Again, yes. I don't think we've ever agreed on something this much.

I honestly don't see UNLV Football lasting ten more seasons at its current pace with an NFL team in town...

That's not unfair, but think we could see more and more college football programs go by the wayside as well. Times are a changing.

Still a huge jump for them. Their challenge is to make it work and increase interest in Rebel FB. Not an easy task for a historically horrible program.

Yes. We have to keep remembering that we're talking about 2-10 year after year UNLV football. This might not be as amazing for other schools but it's a massive step-up for UNLV.

How about you just offer a counter-argument?

This is just more proof that UNLV Football is not a priority for Las Vegas.

    1. It's been argued ad-nauseum on this board for what seems like 2 years now. Time will tell. In any case, I wasn't dismissing your argument by calling you a name. I was just calling you a name. You love to shit on Vegas any chance you get and you know it.

    2. You're right and it almost certainly never will.
