  1. couch coach, i am not sure anybody has said carter will be a superstar, but a few of us, myself included, have said he will be a solid post player that won't get pushed around. he does things that don't show up in a stat sheet, and will be an asset for us next year. but superstar? i haven't seen anybody post that. just sayin...
  2. i know, i just don't like it, lol...
  3. i agree, it completely disrupts any kind of flow that might be developing...and at exactly the 12:00 mark in the first half? and i also think the defense affects the offense. i personally hate the zone for that reason, and although i understand the need for an occasional zone. our intensity is so much better when we're playing man to man. edit: 'our intensity is so much better on both ends ot the court...'
  4. if rice would learn how to manage timeouts better, that would be a step in the right direction...
  5. yes...he deserves all the trouble he can get...
  6. all of these games are close, and several could have gone either way. credit to fisher.
  7. got it! but you're going to have people confused at his 'change in attitude', lol...
  8. except i'm not looking at individual players, i'm looking at how the team is moving and (shock) the plays being run, the effort they are playing with, and just some basic fundamentals...yes northridge is at a different level, but the fact that at halftime his 6 or 7 kids are playing well with the leader of that level is what i'm looking at. and yes, if i remember right, they end up being blown out as they wore down. again, i'm not saying unlv should hire theus now, just saying i like how he's coaching these kids at northridge. btw, i'm assuming you're not rebels18, why the name so close to his? just curious.
  9. ha, i decided to clean out my dvr, and as i scrolled down i saw that a few weeks ago i had hit record for the csun, cal poly game, and forgotten about it. so i'm watching the first half, and realize i am not completely off that theus bandwagon, the guy coaches circles around dave rice, even with what he has. yes, they are terribly undermanned and losing without their 6 or 7 players, but from what i understand, their ineligibility was a mistake made by the university, and actually had nothing to do with theus. but as 18 said at the beginning of the season, he has IT, these kids are giving their all and look to be well coached. granted, this is the only game i have seen this year, but who am i to argue with jerry tarkanian and rick pitino...i'm really curious to see how he does next year with a full roster. just putting that out there, even though i seriously doubt reggie will ever coach at unlv... with that said, there are a few other coaches i would not be opposed to, . just please, no more unproven assistants...
  10. so that's from youmans, and bern has also called him out. i really figured he would get next year, with that reset angle and all, but maybe?
  11. Couch coach, carter does a lot if things that don't show up on a stat sheet, and he won't get pushed around. We definitely could have used him this year. And fwiw,I do think zimm might be headed here.
  12. no kidding. we've had 5 losses less than 2 points at the end of regulation (yes, boise did go on to win by 9). and i swear the end game management has been the same in every one.
  13. yes...except that he made it.
  14. 'fraid so, i think their bigs will totally dominate inside.
  15. Because they will give him a pass this year 'because his team is young'...I don't like it, but that's what they will do. Unless they just flat out don't win another game.
  16. vegas has failed to capitalize on a lot of things, but sage is right...unlv would have a MUCH easier time, with all the basketball that is CURRENTLY in vegas, including all summer long. it really does have advantages that are not being utilized..
  17. to be honest, i'm not sure how that falls on reggie. if a class is accredited, the kids take it, and then it for whatever reason loses it's accreditation, how is that ANY coach's fault? wouldn't that have more to do with the university itself? but csun isn't unc, so the northridge kids (and RT) take the hit.
  18. livengood had his mind made up that rice would be the next unlv coach before kruger even said he was leaving. and it wasn't the money. they could have paid a coach at least what kruger was making when he left, which was $1.2 mill.
  19. i have said for years that for the right coach, the money will be there. just not necessarily from unlv. money had nothing to do with why rice was hired, but why would you pay kruger's salary to someone who had no experience.
  20. fwiw, lon quit trying. if he had put half the effort into unlv the last few years he was here as he apparently is now at oklahoma, he wouldn't have been feeling the heat that he was. he knew his time was limited at unlv and it had nothing to do with low scores. the rebs were being LAUGHED at during the last game he coached, and he had reached a plateau over the last couple of years he was here. i remember fans on a different board BEGGING for him to play 2 bigs at one time, just for a couple of minutes. but he couldn't, because he didn't ever go out and recruit them. i get the small ball, and i'm not opposed to it, in certain situations it is the RIGHT choice, but it is nice to have the option. but i loved his defense. i think lon had taken the rebs as far as he could, he is a great rebuilder, and i thank him heartily for the progress he made at unlv, and wish him well at oklahoma. but i do find myself very ticked off at times this year that he didn't do here what he is doing there. i also think that many fans are looking back and thinking he was better than he was here, because of where we are now. but i was not sorry to see him move on, it was time, he had done as much as he was going to do here. just my opinion.
