I think it was Dan Patrick who on three different occasions in the last 18 months made this claim. Ever since he left ESPN has he ever been right on any of these claims?

It was sports writers more with speculation than anything else that was pushing those stories. I think it was either Wilner or Thamel who wrote about schools in the Pac was probably going to stay at 10 for at least the rest of the current football playoff contract and then maybe, maybe expand after that

What is all the bullshit you’re spewing based on? The MWC is sinking? We’re about to add two power schools, and maybe Gonzaga in BB and a maybe a Memphis. And that will be perfect timing to position us for a great TV deal in 2 years.

Oh that’s right, SDSU didn’t get into a power conference, so that means the group currently known as the MWC is sinking. Dude, just deal with it and grow up. I’ll bet you also think Snappy would be full every game if you were added to a survived PAC. That’s more delusion right there.  The SDSU administration and many of the SDSU fans were never ready to be a power school. Being left behind saved you even more embarrassment.

Memphis isn't coming to MWC without a major raise and even then probably not, Gonzaga isn't coming to MWC either, if they move they want it to be to a major conference, Big East I think has a much better shot at getting Gonzaga than MWC does. They used MWC for what they wanted, they never had real interest in joining

I would guess there almost zero chance of UNC ending up the Big 12. They'd rather stay in a much watered down ACC than play in the Big 12.

Big Ten or ACC may possibilities, but not the Big 12.

Well in this day in realignment pretty much nothing is for sure anymore even though I agree I don't see North Carolina in B12 but just saying we have seen things people never thought they would see in this cycle

I think Florida State & Clemson want to be in the SEC with Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, etc. The B12 will be looking at the Louisville & North Carolina with those strong Basketball brands and good football brands. The other schools are up in the air, of how they land. The ACC will have at least back fill with Memphis and Tulane. Of course, none of us really knows if Clemson really has the grant of rights beater set to be unleashed?

SEC Commish did say if they ever expanded or had to add teams they want to stay in the southeast area and wasn't looking anywhere but also said they are happy with what they have and have no plans to expand.

But thing is with any expansion there has to be interest on both sides to do something, and reading between the lines on some statements to the press to me kind of sounds like B10 and SEC aren't to interested in the ACC schools that want to leave right now

You’re right. It was just over eager Aztec fans leaking the SDSU invite to the PAC for months before the Conf eventually imploded. They also forced the commissioners of the PAC and B12 to never directly deny that they were interested in or had extended invites to the school. Lol.

Well San Diego St was on a list for B12 just like Boise was, Memphis was and such.

Not true.  The Friday morning prior to the PAC collapse, when it looked like they would all sign the Apple deal, SDSU was told they would be in and they were all set to be invited.  In fact, they had already written their public statement and were just waiting for the signatures that morning.  Of course, as we all know, instead of the meeting that would have everyone sign, Oregon and Washington instead announced their departure to the BIG and the PAC died and SDSU's path to P5 with it.

In San Diego's mind they were in, per the Pac Commish and president's going in expansion had not even been discussed because there was no TV deal yet and no GoR which is what they were going to try to sign on Friday which was wishful thinking on some schools parts.

  7. But a point that was brought up in an ESPN article I think it was, another potential issues CFP may have to deal with was with no changes to the playoff for 2024, what would they do if MWC reversed merged with OSU and WSU under Pac-12 flag, would they still be entitled to the 80% formula

  8. Was trying to find it but appears there were reports coming out of meetings of OSU and WSU talking more about making a run as a two school conference which then would put the ball in CFP court if they would still get an bid or not toward the playoff.

Then on another note saw that Florida St, Clemson, North Carolina and another school would leave ACC as a block when the time comes.

Then of course on twitter that started stupid speculation that those four could join OSU and WSU in a new conference.

There was a group of SDSU fans on Twitter back when the b12 rumors were swirling saying we should take the offer if true. It sucks to be right. But plenty of posters here will say SDSU never had anything close to an invite to the b12.

They were never close to an offer from anyone, most Aztec fans can't accept that but its true.

He seems to be playing his cards smartly, and I expect Nevarez is doing the same but being less public about it.  The ultimate goal (assuming that we end up with nine FBS conferences instead of ten) isn't to preserve 6+6.  It's to make sure we end up with 5+7 rather than 12 at-large.

he is going to do whatever he is told to do by ESPN, but it will change just the matter of when it will change. The big thing will be who ends up with the contract for the playoffs which is what most of the two day meeting was about with presentations.

    Like who?

Ever since the SMU situation writers have also brought up could OSU and WSU somehow buy their way into another conference, has also been discussion on twitter about it as well. Not saying its reasonable talk but talk has been going on

The more they keep going on about being P5 teams I think that is the most desired end goal for both. The most likely and one I'm thinking will happen however is still the full MWC merger.

Both WSU and OSU have made it clear over and over again their goal is to remain a P5 school and even a sliver of hope you know they will work that angle.

Yes EWU was picked middle of the pack in the Big Sky in the preseason. They won on the road at the team picked #2 (UC Davis) last week. They host Idaho this week. If they manage to beat Idaho it is possible EWU becomes a top 15 fcs team by the end of the year. So they might just be a very solid fcs team. Guess what a very solid fcs team would probably go 3-5 or heck maybe even 4-4 in the MW. So in retrospect it was still a bad game BUT maybe it won't be as terrible as we initially thought. I mean it is almost certain some 4-4 or worse MW team is going to give Fresno a scare this season or even pull off the upset.

Regarding Nevada they have shown life the last two games and it is hard to hold to USC too much against them. It is hard for the top MW teams to keep games close vs top 10 teams so you can't really hope the middle/bottom of the MW will.

It was bad, you don't lay down and have a FCS team have their way with you. At least they could have offered to take the team to dinner or drinks before having their way with them

There are some delusional people on the OSU message board who still think the Big 12 is going to offer WSU and OSU after the football season. Delusional.

There are also some delusional people who think OSU and WSU can keep the Pac-12 going on their own for two years and then pick and choose who to add to reach the NCAA-mandate eight teams for an auto berth conference. Delusional as well.

Reverse merger, by Thanksgiving at the latest. The most sensible and realistic option, and you have the 5th best football league and a reasonable shot for a CFP invitation when it expands to 12 teams.

The Big 12 thing isn't just on the message board, there are some people that feel if OSU/WSU wins their case and gets all the rights etc they could possibly buy their way into Big 12.

Everything depends on the court case right now, until that moves forward nothing can really be done

  15. Seattle was in the West Coast Conference at one time before going back to Division II, and they could bring on Seattle to get another school up in Washington to match with Gonzaga so that Gonzaga isn't that far out there. But with that past, Seattle probably would be on the list and Seattle's team has been trending upward a bit.

Grand Canyon, they have had baggage which has went against them.

We came out juiceless, got hosed a couple times by the refs, and the offense never really woke up.

EWU is definitely better than people think.  Not the nightmare of the Taiwan Jones years but they're a top 15 Fcs Team.

Which means we would lose to them by 14 or 17 points

Buddy we are not going to juju this. Not after EWU

EWU may be better than people thought they would be this year, but I think FSU fell asleep there in the second half a bit but like  good teams do found a way to win.

You have that right. For many years those of us who live in the San Fernando Valley have tried to avoid LAX like the plague. The last time I flew out of there was about 20 years ago when I had business in Tucson. At least back then, you couldn't fly directly from Burbank to Tucson so I flew from LAX to Tucson. Going to Tucson was quite nice because - again, at least then - the Tucson airport beat the hell out of the POS in Phoenix. (I have stories about that turd, too.) However, although getting on a flight back to LAX was also great, I had taken the freeway flyer bus from Van Nuys to LAX early that morning and on the way back from LAX to VN that night, the driver of the GD bus scared the daylights out of me and most everybody around me. That woman drove the 405 as if she was driving not a bus but a Porsche, weaving in and out of traffic the whole way and I literally got car sick.

The one time I flew into Phoenix I liked their airport and they had Spring Training gear there as well, but again it was a connecting airport so probably missed the mess. But yes when we fly into Southern Cal we avoid LAX at all cost if we can
