  1. I've never seen such a clear and accurate characterization of how illegal immigrants live their lives, and I have illegal immigrants as my neighbors! Congratulations for making such an observation all the way from Idaho.
  2. What did California farmers have to do with Trump getting elected. None of them could have voted for the guy, and he's still be in the White House. Ho Hum.
  3. Trump opponents and resisters need to be better about distinguishing between Trump and his supporters being lunatics and things that would have occurred no matter which Republican was president. You're absolutely right here, but this was inevitable no matter what Republican was in the White House.
  4. So 30 percent of ppl think the media is too left wing, 30 percent think it's too favorable to its corporate overlords aka rigjt wing and 40 percent know how to read.
  5. It's not hate speech when they deserve it.

  7. How many cases to you want me to cite of right-wing suppression of free speech?
  8. People like me have no place to anchor. It just shows how much extremists on the left and the right both hate the first amendment.
  9. If you guys want to get a coach fired, beat SJSU on the rock this year.
  10. ECU has been good for a while.
  11. I think it's very important to be guided by an ideology and/or set of principles that inform your beliefs and decisions. And I think it's unfair to take a person's principles that inform their positions and and then discredit those principles by pointing out that world absolutely run and informed by those principles is untenable. So in a sense I believe we MUST put ideology first in our decisions, if only to understand why we make the decisions and take the positions we do. The fact that our actions based on those motivations are tempered by the reality of the world we live in is clearly implied, in my opinion. I think there are too many people who believe that they value things that are mutually exclusive because they have not decided what their values are. A lot of people want to be safe, but they want to be free. People want entitlements and government services, but they don't want to pay more taxes. People want to be provided with things, but they want a choice in the matter. Those may be oversimplifications, but they're very real examples. People, I believe, need to prioritize what is important to them, to know what kind of world they want to live in. And to do that, you need a value system, an ideology, a set of principles, etc.
  12. Gotcha. Yes, there is a HUGE difference between the worst neighborhood here and a moderately bad neighborhood in some of those places.
  13. I've lived in shite neighborhoods and depressed economies almost exclusively through my adult life and have only become more libertarian over that time, for what it's worth. I don't know how it got to the fact that asking for people to be responsible for themselves and their choices has become a theoretical utopia.
  14. I understand there's inches of ice on the road. Ice storms are no joke.
