  1. He's probably laughing as he types at the thought people believe what he says.
  2. The tricky part is getting Cal and especially Stanford to sign off on any agreement with the best of the rest of AAC/MWC. Including Stanford is the only way you get something in the $10M range. Otherwise, we know both the AAC and MWC schools don't drive that kind of cash. And if Stanford goes indy, you can't expect anyone to make the jump. I guess we'll know soon enough if the remaining 4 stay together short term or not.
  3. I mean, the conference was literally formed with an airport meeting deciding to leave other schools on the side of the road to the benefit of the schools making the cut. There is nothing noble about college sports.
  4. Those package deals are long long gone, as last week showed. There is zero loyalty when it comes to money and college athletics, even at the G5 level.
  5. These are the 2 paths. If the PAC schools can get a few AAC schools and top MWC schools and sign some type of deal for a few years, that's one option. Then the MWC would need 4-6 to rebuild, so UTEP and NMSU and a host of FCS schools would be in play. The other path is WSU and OSU join all the current MWC schools. The latter seems more likely. I just can't see Stanford ever joining a conference in all sports that includes all of the current MWC. Maybe they negotiate for oly sports and go indy for football. It should be another interesting week, but nearly as crazy as last week.
  6. I'm not convinced NDSU wants to move to FBS. Frankly, i'll believe it when i see it. There has been plenty of movement the last few years with G5 conference shuffling.
  7. What is SMU's exit fee and what does AAC pay vs MWC? I don't see why they would move.
  8. I expect some of those North Dakota State posts to start popping up now.
  9. That should clear the way for Utah and Arizona schools to B12. Stanford left out in the cold for now?
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/biggest-frustration-pac-12-hard-152132795.html It is also very frustrating to see Washington State and Oregon State — two schools with zero leverage or influence in any of this — pay the price for the stupidity and idiocy of the higher-ups and those in power, who will make large salaries and not pay a price themselves. It’s always the little guy who suffers the most. That’s frustrating, and it should be mentioned as a central problem with everything that’s happening to a dying Pac-12 Conference.
  11. And it's only 8am on the west coast. It could be even crazier by end of day.
  12. Doh! Well, kudos for one last conference call. Turn out the lights, the party is over... Until we meet again.
  13. Yowsers. This is going to be an interesting day for PAC and MWC schools. The MWC can get stronger with WSU and OSU or it could lose a few teams if PAC gets a deal at the last minute. And the BiG and B12 are eyeing expansion. Let's see what ESPN headlines look like in about 4 hours. Shouldn't take long for news to break.
  14. As a fan of college football out west, i want the PAC to stay together. Then again, it makes no sense to invite USC and UCLA if you aren't going to continue to expand and sign more teams out west to balance divisions. Given the last few days, it would be amazing if the PAC survives with a handful of teams and starts to rebuild.
  15. Oregon and Washington not going to BiG is not good for the MWC. That would leave enough teams for the PAC to rebuild short term.
  16. To a 4 team MWC? I doubt it. You would need 6 teams to refill at that point. They would be better off with and east and west CUSA conference. Hmmm...... I guess there would be more than enough schools then. That would be 14 if 4 MWC schools joined, and you could still add 2 more out west. Montana, Montana State, NMSU, UTEP, 4 MWC leftovers in west division, 8 other schools in the east. Heck, that is some semblance of regional rivalries at least. And NMSU and UTEP have quite a bit of history with the leftover MWC schools.
  17. No love for your other conference mates USU, SJSU, UNM, and Wyoming? Que lastima. Now that truly would suck for schools left behind a 6 school invite.
  18. The big boys are talking 20 because of insane money involved. What would the reasoning be at the MWC/AAC level for 20 teams? That would be one less autobid to chase, but then again i am sure playoff rules will be changing soon to reflect conference updates.
  19. Stanford is a hard no. WSU and OSU have no options. No idea what Cal does, but they might have to hold their nose for now.
  20. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/big-12-expansion-rumors-swirl-151824723.html We could know Arizona's fate as early as tonight.
  21. That would just bump Stanford to B12 or independence short term. No way they join with MWC schools. But if PAC can keep one or two of Utah, UofA, ASU, and add Cal, we know WSU and OSU have no options, then the conference could survive to the detriment of the current MWC. I see no world where Stanford is left behind AND agrees to a merger with the MWC.
  22. True, but it's a different landscape now. See WSU and OSU options for P4 moving forward.
  23. Brookings, SD has a population of 28k. That's smaller than most football stadiums. I don't see how South Dakota State could every support an FBS team and play in the MWC. Maybe the MAC.
  24. AAC schools are never coming. Adding WSU and OSU will be great for the MWC though. With the way the wind is blowing today, that looks like a strong possibility.
