  1. Pitino was way more real than Alford though. Straight up said "Yeah I talked to Louisville", and didn't give some BS speech about his undying commitment to Lobo basketball. Just said it's the nature of the business.
  2. We haven't been better off, no, but we accomplished all we were going to accomplish with Steve Alford. His ceiling was reached. And I think he's way past his prime. Doesn't have the same fire and energy he had while at UNM. Looks bored and disengaged on the bench. UCLA broke him down and he's old now. I think he has reached his ceiling at UNR now too. You guys can get someone better and younger.
  3. The Alford situation is way different. He was a wounded animal having just gotten run out of Westwood. Mack probably could have coached at UL for a long time had the Gaudio thing not happened. I would be thrilled if we got Mack but I just don't see it happening. He can literally just wait another year and get a P5 job easily.
  4. Joe Scott had them rolling for one season but that was it. Literally ever other season he has been there they have been under .500. Bzdelik had the best two year run in Air Force history going a crazy 50-16. I think Bzdelik is easily the best coach in Falcon history.
  5. I wouldn't say absolutely nothing. SDSU always had untapped potential. Cox Arena, now known as Viejas, had been around since 1997. That is already an immense facility to start with. Add in the advantages of a fertile SoCal recruiting ground in one of the most beautiful areas in the entire world and it's a huge advantage in recruiting. SJSU would have similar upside to SDSU but they don't want to invest in facilities, and they would have to build a fan base from the ground up which is very difficult but does come with winning. Fish managed to do that but already had the facilities. I do think Fish is the best to ever do it in this league though. Just saying that he had a lot to work with.
  6. Chris Mack is way out of our league but he is a great coach. We will get some P5 bum failure most likely like Josh Pastner.
  7. Oh Mashburn trolls on the court all right. I'm sure UL fans will love his 36% from the field, and inabilities to defend, get to the rim, and shoot the three with any level of consistency.
  8. That 2011 team got pretty unlucky though. I still think it's your best team. I think if they get past UConn they win the whole thing.
  9. You guys would be better off without him. He will never do anything in the tournament unless he's playing in it.
  10. I really don't understand the Forsling thing. I get that he's a "great teammate" and whatever but he's basically just a guy that takes up a roster spot for no reason other than to wave a towel on the sideline.
  11. That was one of the big issues for a lot of fans in Albuquerque when Rocky was here. People said that all he cared about was the regular season and then considered the season already over before our bowl games. Interestingly enough, that was also one of the big criticisms of Steve Alford at UNM.
  12. I hope you're right. Even if we can hang with them physically I am worried about their ability to knock down the three. Hall can shoot it for a 6'10" guy and their PG can really shoot the rock.
  13. I hate to say it but I don't think the MWC is going to do very well tomorrow either. These power league teams seem to have a size advantage over our teams. Clemson is big like this Texas team and will likely bully us around. Utah State will probably get bounced too. It will be up to SUDS again.
  14. Hell, I remember when SDSU was basically the laughing stock of the MWC in Fish's first year.
  15. Maybe he will suck. Steve Alford had a son named Kory Alford that was so bad he never got off the bench unless garbage time.
  16. Boise's big guns Stanley, Deggy and Rice go 5-28. I don't understand how Cam Martin outplays one of the best forwards in the history of the MWC in Degenhart, but that's what happened. Rough one Boise. Really wanted you to win this one.
  17. Having a coach's son on the team is rough. They always get preferential treatment no matter what the coach says. I have a ton of respect for Max Rice being a UNM fan where he constantly lit us up, but it's probably good for you guys to free up a roster spot to go out and get a better guard.
  18. It seemed like Max forgot to get off the plane for this one though. His team needed him to do something and he did nothing.
  19. Defensively I would say it's a pretty high level game.
  20. Some of the best games ever are slug fests like this one.
