  1. Great point. Unfortunately, do you think its possible for anyone (CH or otherwise) to herd the Prez's into agreeing to: A) allow-recruit-entice BYU back into the MWC for Fball only, or Fball & Oly?? "B") allow-recruit-entice BYU into the MWC for Fball as a MWC Associate-Member (getting 5 or 6 games/yr, but no CCG or MWC Bowl access)?? C) Then get BYU & Boise to Equal Shares?? I'm sorry, but I simply don't see how anybody gets our uber-conservative self-centered Doofus Prez's to look beyond their noses at such BIG ISSUES dealing 90% w/ Sports, and convince them to take a RISK. Heck, just asking BYU into your Conference is a major RISK due to their history of lying, cheating, behind the back dealings that can hurt your MWC. DOn't get me wrong, I believe BYU belongs in the MWC & visa-versa... but BYU really has proven to be horrible Business/League partners. Maybe some compromise could be reached for the Assoc. Member thing because it could be structured to be just like Notre Dame's deal w/ the AAC??? At least that could be appealing to the BYU propaganda machine!
  2. I like several responses that ring true to me, which I added to the above "Quote" (3 in total): We truly have NO IDEA how much Leadership CT has tried to provide over the years ... Example, like the highly visionary Mountain TV thing which the Prez's bought & then spit out (and likely blamed CT, which would naturally harm his credibility). The Mountain showed tremendous foresight & VISION by CT. But nobody wants to give him credit for that. The facts are that we as MWC Fans know diddley-sqwat about how well he has done & is doing with all the massive sea CHANGE & Hurricanes that the MWC has had to go thru. And I believe CT coulda quipped more eloquently about the Shocker MBB/Oly possibility... and I have no doubt that this decision (and possibly the QUIP) came directly from the mouths of the Prez's... still he coulda delivered it better. IMHO, I am reticent to critique "the Man in the Arena", when I've never been there myself & don't know of anybody well-informed about CT's arena, whom I trust to eval him fairly. Certainly nobody on here knows enough to provide that Fair evaluation.
  3. Pinko Progresso... is that you??? While I was up visiting in Coeur De Alene, ID... I flew into Spoke and met lots of Zag fans, some of whom I'd met last year at this same Final 4 time. From them I heard very little fear or hesitancy about joining the MWC. In fact they seemed rather pumped about getting outta the WCC High School Gyms, and playing all games vs. GREATER competition & in great D1A Arenas.... and in great destination cities. What was your crowd of Zag fans saying about that possibility?? If Zag fans are disappointed... at least they can't say we tried to save them from more boredom in the WCC.
  4. Seems yer ill informed... Do yer homework before judging. How many folks you know who worked in the USSR for 2 decades following WWII building oil refineries, and came away praising that glorious totalitarian system?? Zero! He saw the horrifying facts of living in that totalitarian state where the people were completely controlled & oppressed while the Fat-Cat party leaders & oligarchs ate caviar. Had you seen what he had, you might've formed your own Anti-Communism society. He passed his factual stories onto his sons. As smart lads, they made their own minds up to continue to fight like hell to keep our people as free as possible to make their own way in this life, and as "un-observed" as possible by any Progressive State (always progressing toward Ameritopia). You seem like a smart guy... But really... don't blather haughtily about how loony Mr. Koch was, and his sons, to a guy who worked with the Koch's in Wichita after playing sports for the SHockers. Until you've walked in that man's shoes, you are CLUELESS. Right???
  5. And the price of tea in China... isn't that also extremely relevant to your positional arguments? Look at the scoreboard chump.
  6. Every person I have met who know art briles from his high school coaching days at Stephenville High School, too and through every one of his coaching jobs... Said he was a very straight arrow and good moral man. IMHO, Baylor 1/10th of the infrastructure built and in place to push the Coaches & entire Athletic Dep to the sidelines, do an impartial investigation, advocate for and actually help students who were having these sexual assault issues. Briles staff did the stupid stuff that one would expect when there is such a void of Title 9 protection for students being assaulted. Especially assaulted on a Baptist School campus where they do not contemplate needing such stringent protections for their female students. This is just my take, based mostly on the people who no art briles.
  7. Enjoy humor, but isn't Patterson trying to hire him? Personally, I'd love to see Briles @ CSU, or any of the MWC schools (he is actually a good man). I'm not that familiar w/ Freeze.
  8. We must in the doldrums of Summer... to be discussing this Warbow realignment post. Carry on & enjoy it for what it is... a chance to speculate & share our ignorance TOGETHER. How wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Re my RAMs being Vandalized in the Tater Bowl...their Coaches recognized the weather & field conditions and made immediate adjustments. They fully outsmarted our SEC brain trust -- who never prepp'd for or played any games on such a field & in such icy weather. Vandal Coaches Won that game via brilliant planning & game-day adjustments. It's not Rocket Science... CSU needed to do exactly as Vandals did --- stop trying to Run Outside the hash marks (its Ice out there), focus all your Blocking Power (bodies) inside the Hashes (leaving defenders alone who are out in Siberia defending all the action that's not there)... suck those OutSide defenders inside, then throw a Pass out there where nobody's running, and watch them try to recover on the ICE. The O always has an advantage in sloppy field conditions & poor weather. Once Bobo & Staff finally got it.... toooooooo late I've not been to Moscow, but was just up in Coeur D'Alene & Spokane. Quite impressive IMHO.
  10. IMHO, Not for FCS play. It's Top Drawer for FCS play, and plenty big to be able to even host a G5 team or 2 in their schedule. How many MWC teams have an On Campus Stadium that seats 31k or more ??? Only about 1/2 ? For joining MWC, sure would be nice to upgrade it further. It's a very functional stadium for the next 5-10 years, and can certainly be upgraded in phases, whenever needed. The point is, WSU is in an enviable position (stadium wise) to re-start their Fball program.
  11. Agree... the tourney toughness of WSU would rubb off on the rest of the MWC. Eventually making it a 2-3 bid conference.
  12. Word is that WSU Mbb will require that it not-fund WSU Fball. That's what lead WSU to kill Fball in '88. Mbb Made $500k profit annually, and had to hand it all over to the Fball Program, which lost about $400k/yr. Constrained the Mbb for tooo many decades.
  13. Actually, my understanding of the deal was WSU would start in FCS (D1AA) and eventually improve to a point where they would gain a slot, based on certain achievement levels attained. Keep in mind, WSU already owns its own On Campus 31k seat Stadium built in '69... so that's already there. That would be one of the largest in FCS today, and combined w/ MBB success it could prove to give Shockers good attendance -- if the Fball product is exciting & winning.
  14. Even a conference Commish can only lead a horse to water Still, I agree fully & wish CT had the energy & Credibilty to whip the Prez's into better strategic decisions!
  15. As others have posted, CT can't change the MWC By-laws (gotta be Fball & Oly sports )... only Prez's can do that. CT not the main issue re MWC uber-conservative behavior.
  16. Would the dandy sweater have been thrown in on your version of a negotiated deal ??? I'm sure CT tried to leverage his "hair"...
  17. As a Shocker Fball Alum, some rumblings are coming thru the grapevine (often wrong, but always interesting). WSU Mbb won't add nearly the Umph to the AAC, that it would've added to the MWC... it'll bring sizzle, but not the same UMPH!!!And so the MWC misses out again on a strategic alignment opportunity.... what's new??? Our over-conservative Prez's continue to thwart CT's best intentions. Evidently the MWC Prez's said "we're not gonna go down that slippery slope that the Big East did", and CT was not inclined to fight them & to work any harder on scheduling, so the MWC shot it down. Our Leadership has very limited vision!!BTW, word is that WSU was seeking to leverage the MWC to provide a "future provisional slot" for a resurrected Shocker Fball team (had to meet key watermarks), if Shockers joined the MWC initially for Oly Sports only. Not sure they required the same of the AAC. If true, a Good negotiating strategy by the Shockers. I bet WSU saw the $$$$'s being soooo much better via MBB only in the AAC, that they dropped any such Fball provision. Who the heck knows??? Some things to consider. Were I the MWC Czar, I'd have done the deal w/ Shockers, including a future Fball slot provision, and would've simply made the provisional achievement levels nice & high (ie, must Win 1 FCS Fball Championship + 2 Top #4 finishes in order to qualify) . WSU Mbb, Baseball could have added very appreciable VALUE to the MWC!!!!!!!!!!! And would have made the MWC a far more attractive place for the Zags to join... & the Borg to re-join What would you have done if my info is accurate???
  18. Is this true? Please provide any evidence that supports such a claim, this is the 1st time I heard such info. If true, it could account for some of BSU's success... about 1/3 to 1/2 of BSU's success at critical positions on the DL, OL & LB's. And that would be a major advantage. But I'd think the NCAA would have been tipped off by BSU opponents to place them under "special observation". If BSU learned how to consistently fly above all that detection... that's pretty amazing. That other 2/3's to 1/2 is where the magic of Coaching (schemes, game-planning, play-calling) comes in and develops their QB's & WR's & DB's... positions which are not helped much at all by Steriods. That "Statue of Liberty" play that was prepp'd for & called by Pete vs. OU had nothing to do w/ Steroids. Nor did Kellen Moore's development, or any of the other great BSU QB's & WR's. BTW, do you know how many other schools use Roids regularly, or what % of Players do so on their own... way down below the surface of their success?? I don't. but it's an interesting subject to study... inquiring minds want to know.
  19. Actually IMHO -- Boise State's waaayyyy underfunded & yet excellent 10+yr performances are by far and away the most impressive of all the lyin' cheatin' Bigs across the entire country. Bang for the Buck, no team was a great for as long as those Boise teams. And they did it w/o any BCS recruiting advantages. Miami U was fully $$$'s & drug & sex fueled recruiting + Howard and some fine Coaching (I was in Boca from '82-'89). I was Sooner born & bred, on OU Fball... they too were more than happy to pay their players.
  20. Good distinction... and at this point, Few is the Zags Mbb program. IMHO. If he wants more, the MWC is stoopid to not have tried to provide that by adding Zags & SHocks.
  21. I never thought Zags wanted to go beyond the WCC. But if that's true, and the MWC failed to acquire both the Shocks & Zags... we are the DOLTS.
  22. Exactly ... Aztecs & Broncos are Spartie's best friends. (you do know I'm not totally serious?)
  23. Thx for ur Honest assessment... SDSU & BSU are mostly responsible for that "go for the market size" slip up re SJSU. Own your successes & failures.
  24. Most reasonable post of this thread... the MWC hit some down years & poor Coaches. Time to fix those, and get back to work in growing the MWC.
  25. sorry guys... I kinda took off here... ignore my wanderings. Just 1 thought... maybe the MWC could commit to it's own BUILD-Up program in order to boost the MWC teams up-scale in both Reality & Perception. Isn't it very possible that the Top teams in the MWC can Step Up to the levels that TCU & UU achieved before leaving? Heck, BSU was at that level for about 8 yrs in a row, before moving to the MWC. IMHO, the secret to the MWC's success will be in it's teams getting highly successful in their OOC games. Get our teams to somehow learn to come outta the gate STRONG & Healthy & Ready... surprise several P5's, get 3 to 4 W's in the OOC, and the MWC once again begins to build its Name, Recognition, and Nat'l viewership. One of the MWC issues across the board is "Finding & Signing great talent". Here's my #1 solution: #1) IMHO it's imperative for the MWC to amend it's Inter-Conference Transfer Rules... allow players to Xfer to other MWC teams w/o having to sit-out 1 year... keep our proven & high talent kids from (by-default) Xfer-ing to other Conferences (especially P5 Conferences). Especially kids w/ their degrees who have 1 Yr of elegibility remaining... the MWC needs these type kids to stay in the MWC !!! It's Stoopid to force them to leave the MWC just because of our fears that kids will be dis-loyal to their original school -- if they're treated Well & Fairly they will rarely be disloyal. So it provides an incentive for Coaches to treat their kids better! #2) Figure out how get MWC Coaches to "work together" & share recruiting insights and tips w/ a "recruiting GURU/coordinator" who resides in the MWC HQ, and who passes or forwards good & helpful recruiting info onto the proper team or teams w/i the MWC. The MWC must begin to work & coordinate as a team of Lions in the hunt for Talent... not like standalone Tigers.
