  1. After watching a season's worth of AAC games, it is almost appalling how little defense is played in that conference across the board. I'm not sure their offense would be as prolific against a full MWC schedule as they have been in the AAC. They are talented and should be given credit for what they have done, which is difficult at any level, but I honestly don't think they would win either division.
  2. Most of the best RPI sites have stopped updating this season all together because the NCAA has adopted a new ranking system called the NET rankings to replace the RPI moving forward. NET Rankings explained here : The NET, explained The first NET rankings were released today: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings MWC Teams #13 - Nevada #37 - Utah State #47 - UNLV #64 - Fresno State #96 - SDSU #204 - CSU #210 - New Mexico #223 - Boise State #253 - Air Force #285 - Wyoming #320 - SJSU
  3. I didn't see a problem with it. I would have wanted USU to do the same thing if the table was flipped.
  4. So David Woodward wins national defensive player of the week honors with his 20 tackles this week but somehow can't win defensive conference player of the week?
  5. Speaking of which, why did the TV broadcast keep focusing on the wrong player match up on that call? The OPI was called on #81, not #85 that caught the ball. The call was away from the ball, I believe an illegal pick, but they never showed it and the announcers seemed confused.
  6. Yep, like when they called them for the 15 yard unnecessary roughness earlier on the drive for shoving the QB out and trying to keep him from getting a 1st down?
  7. We looked like ass from start to finish. Hats off to the Rams for being the team that looked like they had something to lose and playing with some fire and passion. The Aggies looked like a spoiled prima donna that wanted nothing to do with the cold weather or anything else that might hurt.
  8. Supposedly coach told him that the jackets were only for players that dress for the game. Rumor is that he also slapped a styrofoam cup out of Oliver's hand too and shouted, "coffee's for closers!".
  9. I wouldn't be too harsh on anyone about that one. He was a hot commodity his JR year in HS when USU offered him. At that point several PAC-12 schools were also looking at him but he struggled his SR year and also spent portions of it injured. His numbers were very underwhelming and nothing about him stood out to make one think he had the ability to play at the FBS level. By the time his SR season was mostly over everyone who showed initial interest had moved on and he still only held the single FBS offer from USU. Even many USU fans wondered why we seemingly "wasted" a scholly on him. The difference is that once he got to USU he grew to 6'-4" and the strength coaches got him from 185 to 225. He's worked really hard to be the QB he is now as a SO. I'm not sure anyone could have predicted the transformation and development he has had while at USU.

Here's a question for you. The MWC record for most points scored in a season is 608 by BYU (in 13 conference games) and has stood since 2001 which also led the entire NCAA that season. Bowl game points are not included in the MWC records. USU currently sits at 513 points with 2 regular season games left and a potential 13th game in the conference championship. Will USU erase BYU from the record books? Can they do it in the regular season without a championship game? (currently average 51.3 ppg)

I worry that something fluky will happen like somehow Hill will get injured again and then KJ will come in and start throwing bombs on us.
  12. This will be interesting. I could see the SR thing coming into play and I could also see the QB of the championship team coming into play. Love has been the conference offensive player of the week 5 times this season and yet has only seen the field in the 4th quarter four times all season and has not played in the second half at all a couple of times. If games were closer and Love had more playing time over the course of the season, what would his numbers look like? I agree that if it ended right now, McMaryion likely would win it. If BSU or USU ends up winning the championship then I believe it goes to the winning QB.
  13. Current Total Defense Rankings MSU = #21 (versus far more potent offenses than the other two) BYU = #24 WYO = #28
  14. There seems to be some belief among Aggie fans that Wyoming's defense was stellar the day we played or that Love was under some intense amount of pressure. If you go watch the game though, Love had plenty of time to deliver the ball, he just had an off day. Yes there was some occasional pressure by the Pokes but it was almost always a missed assignment or miscommunication by the Aggie OL that was to fault. Love and his WR's were just not on the same page and our play calling was significantly different than other games this season. I almost wonder if our coaches got a little too cute during the prep for that game and were overthinking what they needed to do.
  15. The only thing that remains hard to swallow each week is seeing opponents put up junk time yards and points against our 2's and 3's for half the 3rd qtr. and the entire 4th qtr. The 600, 700, 800 yards of offense and 50, 60, 70 points each week help take the sting out but it doesn't make games this season feel any less awkward. As fans we seem to leave games each week with sort of a down feeling, having just watched the Aggies usually lose the 4th qtr with the scoring subsided and the starters long gone from the game. Our defense doesn't get its due since they are only in the game for 2.5 qtrs each week and poor Jordan Love has only played in four 4th quarters all season! 491 yards passing, 5 TDs, 0 INTs today and he only played 2.5 qtrs. What would his numbers look like if he actually played full games? What would our defensive stats look like if the starters played a full game? I'm glad to see the individual stats given up for the health and season goals of the team but I hope some of these guys on the defense don't get snubbed from earning individual honors because of it.
  16. Merrill wasn't bad either with his 37 points.
  17. Is it bad when BYU looks more athletic than the supposed #7 team in the land? Does UNR have a game plan other than to jack NBA 3s? You would think they would catch on that none of them can shoot? Also never noticed how much smaller the Martins play than their actual height.
  18. Even after watching nine weeks of games I have no idea what to make of this match up. All I now is this: BSU does not look like their normal dominant selves - partly due to their OL and lack of ability to just run over teams when needed, partly due to key injuries mounting up Fresno St. has looked comfortably in control of nearly every game. Fresno St. defensive numbers are partly inflated due to a truly horrid lineup of offenses they have faced all season. Also aided by playing an uncharacteristically poor UCLA team early in the season, a Gangi-less UNR, a WYO that was still playing Vander Waal, etc. BSU's pass defense can be taken advantage of (currently #74 in pass yards allowed - that is CSU bad) Rypien can look incredible on one drive and hapless the next Fresno St. has not faced a single team that has a positive Football Power Index rating. There are currently 67 FBS schools with a positive FPI rating and BSU will be the first one that Fresno St. has faced all season (and will be the only one unless they face USU in a MWCCG). On the surface it appears Fresno St. should win this game but the stats say this is by far the best team they have faced to this point. So how will they react? How will BSU cope with potential key losses on both sides of the ball? I don't see this game getting away from either team so I think it will come down to the wire.
  19. Just you, because you're brilliant.......and you actually pay attention. Seriously though, I don't think the so called media "experts" had a clue in the preseason. I will give credit to the few here that did warn everyone to watch out for the Aggies.
  20. Hey, there's no way I would have believed the Aggies would have won 3 of the last 4 against UNLV with how poor we have been since joining the MWC but somehow that is what has happened.
  21. shhh....let's not speak of this. USU will suck, just like their preseason predicted 4th place finish in their own division in football.
  22. I'm fine with USU not appearing on the initial ranking. Our schedule has not been particularly difficult and we still control our own destiny. I don't think UCF remains unbeaten and there's lots of football yet to be played. Like coach Wells says, we are only worried about going 1-0 this week.
  23. Again, USU won the Mtn. Division and played in the championship game in the first year (2013), the year before (2012) they ended the season ranked #16 in the AP, the year after (2014) they won 10 games and a bowl. At the end of this season the three teams with the most wins under the current conference configuration will be in order... 1.BSU, 2.SDSU, 3.USU.
  24. Reading is not your strong suit, it's okay.
